Ooohhh this looks fun, now forgive me as weights vary. I use 90-100g value porridge, two large bananas, approx 8-10 dried prunes. Put into large jug and top up with water, i go by eye but i am happy to post a proper quantity if anyone is interested. Nuke for 5 mins. I then pour in a good spalsh of milk & then whizz till smooth. This serves 3 of us in sports drinking bottles for want of a better word. The oh and i have it as it is but eldest son has a value yogurt and a handfull of frozen berries mixed with his. Its cheap, portable and quite filling . I normally make it the night before.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

I vary mine around 3 basics - either porridge, made up with water, honey and either prunes or sultanas/ raisins. Used to add a blob of yoghurt but trying dairy free at moment and haven't bought any alternatives in... The other is Sainsbury's fruit n fibre, normally with a tbsp of omega seeds and a piece of fruit. Or the last will be whatever bakery goodies I have bought RTC and squirrelled into the freezer! Lately been getting lots of scotch pancakes for silly money, and croissants which get spread with jam of some kind or choc spread and zapped in microwave till melted mm.I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

3 Wheetabix (or store equivilent). I sometimes jazz it up a bit by adding a spoon of drinking chocolate to it. Sometimes i add golden syrup and other times a blob of jam. I sprinkle about a tsp of sugar over the top (cause ive got a sweet tooth). I always eat it cold cause i had an email ages ago showing the difference between two identical pot plants. One had been given water straight from the tap, the other had been given cooled microwaved water and the plant with the microwaved water wasnt thriving. Its put me off using the microwave if i'm honest. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Just had to go gluten free and those porridge oats are costly. Around £2.99 for 450g.
Anyway, 2 oz made with milk and water, dessert spoon brown sugar and 2T cream. Lovely. Gets me through till lunch time or if a little peckish a small banana mid morning.0 -
That water and plants email was written in a really convincing way but it actually turned out to be false. So you're fine using the microwave if you want to.
Oh and my cheapest and easiest breakfast - I make up a ton of American pancakes and freeze them in portions of two. Then in the morning I pop them apart and put them in the toaster, then serve with value lemon curd. The jar of lemon curd is 22p and the pancakes are made with eggs from our own chickens, value SR flour and some milk and cost pennies. It adds up to under a pound for a week's worth of breakfasts but would be a little bit more than £1 if I had to buy the eggs.0 -

I'm a great believer in Breakfast which must needs consist of protein in cheap organic or large free range eggs, toast as in 2 slices, something sweet in porridge with 3 regular spoons of raw granulated sugar with minerals and tastypoos, taken with fresh coffee to wake me up.
If it's the only meal I eat I eat my breakfast.
One should also take breakfast with 1) boot up body exercise 2) boot up brain reading all First Thing activities setting you up for the rest of the day.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Another thing I believe in First Thing Veggies and or Fruit.
Eggs Florentine or leftover meal ie curry with veggies fits bill nicely.
I think we have a lot to learn from the Asians, Indians, Chinese etc the way they breakfast.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

At the moment I have porridge, made with oats, mixed dried fruit, skimmed milk powder and cinammon. I'm not sure how much it costs but it is nice and filling and has helped me to lose weight.
In the summer I will have sliced banana with greek yoghurt [low fat], a drizzle of honey and a sprinkling of toasted nuts.
I'm not one for a cooked breakfast, it just feels too much to me.0 -
hm granola made with oats, various seeds, almonds, maple syrup, cinnemon and a little good oil. When made and cool, then I mix in some dried cherries (not the glace ones). I am about to have some granola with yoghurt for my breakfast. Really gorgeous0
