Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink!

Though the cabin crew generally don't like this on Ryanair and easyjet. They also may 'forget'. Make sure you remind them.

I've often been under the impression that this is some kind of legal requirement, but do you know on what basis?

Agree except that in most other places you are free to go and get it. Once past security you are not and are captive to the market rates the shops set. As a poster says above there is a legal right - this is being abused.

Pretty sure there is no legal right to free water... If there is I will be having a serious discussion with my current water provider...
