Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink!

Just go to the bar, other beverages are available.0

Interesting replies and a bit of difference in views. To all those who said you can drink from the bathroom taps note the sign 'NOT DRINKING WATER'. Also when I questioned why water fountains weren't available I was informed - perhaps erroneously -that they had been removed for fear of contamination. So the simple thing to do was to remove public drinking water and let the public pay. I accept that if getting from check in to the flight was efficient and quick then perhaps taking water wouldn't be so essential - but it rarely is. There is a principle here. The authorities make it impossible to take drinking water in then charge you for the privilege. I don't accept that but I doubt whether any of those in authority care a damn.0

I do have some sympathy as, generally, I think bottled water is an unnecessary rip-off and refuse to buy it myself. However, in my opinion, life is too short to get stressed over it for the relatively short time I am incarcerated in a departure lounge.
Mrs G, on the other hand, will systematically search the terminal for any source of free water, often returning triumphantly with a full bottle of corporation pop. It really makes her day.

I don't see why it should be free - water isn't free at home, why should it be free in the airport? It's a human "need" not a right! Someone somewhere has to pay for it.0

At around 0.1p for a litre, the negligible cost makes drinking water effectively free at home. Passengers have a reasonable expectation that it will likewise be free in the airport.aintshesweet wrote: »water isn't free at home0 -
Or, if not free, then included in the airport taxes.0

You can get free water on the plane if anyone was wondering. I know someone who bought £2 bottles for each member of the family (6 people) on the plane, when they couldn't really afford it. Don't think that you can't get free water onboard.
Though the cabin crew generally don't like this on Ryanair and easyjet. They also may 'forget'. Make sure you remind them.0
