Well I've just watched Woman In Black (when I say 'watched', I listened more than anything cos I couldn't see much past the cushion I had :rotfl:).

I'm calm now. :D It sounds as if I never missed much then, maybe it was meant and Prometheus wasn't worth wasting money on, lol.

I was annoyed because he'd done exactly the same thing this afternoon too and I pulled him up for it at the time.

Hours later and he's at it again.

He wants everyone to act nicely but a) he can't manage to do that himself and b) the kids are just kids, they're not some super duper stepford types that always smile nicely and never argue.

He's off work for the next week. _pale_

Looks like I'll be visiting Tesco tomorrow to stock up on wine, chocolate and dvd's. :D

With the money you have saved tonight you will be able to splash out on the above.................. enjoy and don't share :rotfl::rotfl:

I am another one who agrees that you have saved your money by missing it. So not worth the effort!

Don't forget to throw a big strop too.

Just to let the rest of the family know that they pee'd you off with their selfish behaviour.:D
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

Tell him you want to go tomorrow evening instead, nothing on TV anyway

As the OP is in Scotland you're probably right as far as they are concerned.

OH and I were going to see Prometheus.
If its any consolation I went to see it a week ago and it was really bad! Plus that was the general consensus as we were leaving the cinema
Plus one: DH assured me it was going to be nothing like Alien, with nothing unpleasant happening. He lied ... or rather he was "misled by the reviews."

If this was across the dining table I'm going to be contrary here and say I'm in sympathy with him.

Technically, it was across the dining table. :D

However it wasn't a family meal and the kids were by themselves eating casually. OH and I weren't even in the same room as them.

It also wasn't even a huge issue, eldest (who has disabilities) freaks when daughter blows on the food on her fork to cool it. She doesn't even blow hard, it's just one of his 'things' So he gives her a 'look'.

Daughter then asks him 'what's your problem' and picks up her plate and comes into the living room where she is promptly sent right back by me. OH then wades in and turns a small situation into WW3. If he'd left it alone, it would have been over as soon as it started.

Earlier in the day, daughter pushed past eldest and eldest said something to her along the lines of 'get lost loser' (or similar, can't remember the exact words). OH waded in again, made everything worse for no reason and caused hours worth of bad feeling then too.

Eldest and daughter are evenly matched, one does not bully the other, they are both similar in mental age and do all the same things that siblings do from time to time. It's perfectly natural but OH can't see it.

He also can't seem to register the times the kids do nice things for each other or go out to play with the dog together etc so it all balances out to one big parcel of 'normal'.

I have to say to DH - "Right. There was a bit of a to-do earlier, and now that things have calmed down a bit, I'm going to have a talk with them. You can be in the room if you want to, but don't you dare open your mouth". :D

He would have been a fantastic father in Victorian times. But when he tries to intervene (interfere?) he just makes things 10 times worse!

Was your OH an only child OP? My dad was and he found any sibling conflict with his children difficult too.

No, that's the best of it. There were 4 of them! :D

I've just sat everyone down and read them the riot act about their behaviour yesterday (including OH). I did it nicely though.

I made it clear what I expect to happen and why. The problem comes from the fact they are all so caught up in their own emotional response to *whatever* that they don't stop to see the bigger picture or to use their brains instead of their feelings. The kids have been reminded about 'the best way to deal with things' and OH has been reminded to 'butt out'. :D

However, they are all in no doubt how serious I am so fingers crossed today passes by uneventfully.
