i completed my second ESA50 this week.
Do ATOS refer to the previous medicals notes or is each review treated in the same way as a new claim?
Why did you do a second esa50?

when you think of how many thousands of people are ringing up asking where their forms are, it's not surprising that people have to wait longer to get through

It is very important claimants ring to see if the form has reached them. There have been several cases where it doesn't and the first indication is all benefits stopped including housing benefit etc which causes no end of problems for the claimant and for the different adminstrative departments.

That one phone call, can save having to do 20 phone calls, putting even more stress on the DWP and HB/CT departments.

I agree with the first bit, however, too many ring up again and again and again to check the progress when they've already been told it's progressing

because they sent me another one. ive been on ESA for a year,

when i had my medical, it was pretty much a formality. im registered blind, and so dont have a condition that can vary. just wondered if they looked over the previous medicals notes when deciding if they are going to all you for another medical.

It's a good question. I would assume they would if they are presented to them and that typically they won't be. I'd therefore suggest sending any evidence you want them to consider. In my reassessment at start of year I stated that I felt the same Support Gp descriptor should apply... I supplied ATOS medical report from 18 months earlier that stated it. ATOS decided to get a GP factual report (ESA113) and determined the same descriptor applied. THe only way they could have determined the descriptor applied is by either believing my claim it did in ESA50 (highly unlikely) or that they were persuaded by previous evidence since GP report certainly didn't support their view despite claim to contrary on ESA85A (Atos HC advice to DWP on entitlement).

So get in all supporting evidence I'd say.. even if it is from previous assessments. Put the ATOS HCP under pressure to reach a similar conclusion and reduce the chances of a face to face medical. I would strongly suggest HCPs will typically follow paths of minimal resistance and greatest efficiency to them.
