Co-Op Contactless Cards

Does any one have a contactless card issued by Co-Op?
If so, can i call them to request one? Or do i wait until mine expires?
Some websites claim they are rolling them out from 4th Quarter of 2011, and their stores accept contactless payments.
Thanks

I don't believe they yet exist.0

At present Co-Op don't offer contactless debit or credit cards, and from what I have been told they aren't looking to do so anytime soon.
Though they do accept contactless payments in there food stores and pharmacy's .Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
The Co-operative Bank will also begin issuing contactless payment cards to its debit and credit card customers, by replacing their existing cards when they expire, later this year.

Just FYI for anyone interested - the Co-Op started issuing contactless cards today. You can call and ask for one now if you want. Judging from the website it seems there's no opt-out of contactless when your card expires.

These banks annoy me really. Contactless cards can be issued with no risk as you can force the contactless to check with the bank each time. Like on prepaid contactless cards.0 -

Presumably they don't want to waste money upgrading their "sub-par" customers to the new technology? It can't be cheap when you extrapolate it across the entire customer base!0 -

Nice to see you call some customers "Sub-Par"
I would imagine it would cost the same to implement across there entire customer base, rather than just part of it. Some cards that Co-Operative issue even on there full current accounts are still full authorisation cards and not offline cards.
So even if they were issued a new contactless debit card, it would still seek authorisation for any small amount used on a visa paywave terminal, so it can also be done for those customers that have a cashminder account too!!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. If you don't want to wait you can call up and ask for the new cards. I did and the advisor was very helpful. She said I can have the cards no problem, even though they've only recently opened the account, and the cards are only a few weeks old. After my dreadful experience trying to open an account with First Direct, the Co-Operative are being really great. They switched my direct debits with no hassle, no missed payments and the extras I'm getting on the Premier account more than make up for the monthly charge. I'm very happy with them.0

Well that's what they are (in the eyes of the Co-op that is - I obviously don't judge people on their brand of bank account!)... Otherwise (apart from the few who genuinely want a Cashminder above a Current Account) they would have normal Current accounts.
Well no, because they pay per card... If they refuse to upgrade any of the Cashminder accounts then that's X amount of cards they don't need to pay for. Even if you waited until it was time to renew the card - I'd imagine contactless are still more expensive to buy than normal ones.0
