Evening.
Been on here allll night catching up on the "month-without-supermarket thread" etc...and done nothing since i come in from work at 6:30pm!
I am wide awake even though my head says i should be going to bed as had only 9 hours sleep over the last 2 nights.. but i think i'll instead be going to make a fridge/freezer/cupboard inventory and meal planning for the first time in months!
Have £120 to last me 4 weeks to pay all my bills, food, everything! IF i can cut my £40 food budget down i WONT go overdrawn, and as thats the only "flexible" expenditure i have, really its gonna have to be the one to be tackled. Cupboards and freezer are bulging so shouldnt be too hard.
Have to tell you about the absolute BARGAIN i got in work today.. we are a discount store and we recently got the Old El Paso Fajita kits in.. the family size (i.e. 12 tortilla wraps instead of 8, extra salsa, spice etc).... they had a short date on so were £1.49 a total bargain anyway as the normal smaller size is £2+ in the shops! Well as they were BB tomorrow we had a great deabte this morning as to whether they were ok to be sold as "dated" or not.. and the manager decided tortillas were bread.. so would go off.. so the stock had to be reduced and sold today/tomorrow.. so i got the job (the food dept being my responsibility) to reduce them to half price!! :j So it would be rude not to snaffle some for myself:rotfl:
I bought 2 packs.. and then got staff discount!! So total paid £1.35.. and i got 24 tortilla wraps, 2 packs of fajita spice and 4 bags of salsa (although not sure if this is ok date or not.. must check! ) the wraps can be frozen and the spice packs will be fine... the tortilla wraps and spice mix alone would cost £3-4 if bought in another shop so even if i have to bin the salsa its still a bargain!
Quite chuffed with myself :rotfl:0 -
I am almost certain I have frozen the wraps and salsa sauce from those kits and they were fine, definately the wraps. I love mexican style food. One day I might be more organised...........

<<<To keep her spirits up she played a lot of music & I Will Survive was one of her favourites, so much so, that we decided to play it at her funeral. Unfortunately at the same time Weetabix, started to use it in their commercials. So my poor mum ended up being cremated to the tune for a breakfast cereal, still I know she would have seen the funny side of it.

When I lost my gorgeous husband three and a half years ago my DD's wanted their Dad to have his favourite tune played .As he was a lifelong Crystal Palace supporter whe had Dave Clark Five's version of 'Glad All Over' played, as it is the Palace anthem. My youngest DD also phoned the club, and asked for a flag, and they couriered one down to her house in Kent free of charge from South Norwood in London, and we had it draped over his coffin. He would have been so proud, as he has been a season ticket holder for nearly forty years, and my DD's were born almost next to the ground in Selhurst Road.
Everyone who came to his funeral all said to hear that music was to see him singing and stamping his feet in time to it .All of our family and friends were reminded of him just from that particular song .0 -
Hi all,
Im just catching up with the thread before going to bed, my eyes are closing whilst Im sitting here.
Had to get up early to take DD's for a haircut this morning, they have been layered and straightened, so we had a day of much hair flicking and swishing. (Cost miles more than I spend on my own, so it will be a while before it gets done again!)
Consequently due to early start I had to have my fave brekkie for lunch instead, which is bacon sarnie with brown sauce! (Pancakes with lemon and sugar for DD1 and Pancakes with chocolate sauce for DD2) OH cant face big brekkies so just has cereals.
Have spent most of the day digging, finished off what I started last week, and I dug over the veg patch and planted some spuds, planted up some strawberry plants and a blackberry bush as well and have filled some seed trays with compost ready to plant my seeds, (geraniums, dahlias, sweet peas and sunflowers) hopefully tomorrow. Was hindered in my efforts by the rabbit who ran in and out of my legs until I felt dizzy and kept sitting in the space I was just about to dig!
Tomorrow my mum is coming for lunch, I have cross stitched Mothers Day cards for both my mum and mum in law, and have knitted a fluffy scarf for mum in law as one of her pressies. Lunch tomorrow will be Christmas dinner all over again, (my fave, as Im a mum too and Im also cooking it) and hopefully will find time to make chocolate crunch and a batch of choc chip fairy cakes too.
DD1 is off on a school trip next week so have to dig the suitcase out of the loft and pack her things. I am organized and have made a list, everything is all in a neat pile in her room and just needs packing. I will miss her dreadfully but she is massively excited! Especially as there is snow forecast and she is off oop North so is expecting it to be deeper up there than we usually get down here in the sheltered Mids.
Im taking my aching back and a hot water bottle off to bed, night night!0 -
