Being 3ply, doesn't the Nicky paper go faster . My kids get through 2ply quick enough.
I would have thought they had less sheets. I have also been a bit worried about blocking the toilet. Our toilets are quite new and don't use a lot of water when flushing.

:( It's a valid concern, unfortunately, as some premium t.p. brands have been known to cause blockages in normal usage. I'm a Spartan in the t.p. dept so it's 2-ply at my place. Of all the things I like to spend money on, t.p. is well down the list.

Although I do have a few packs put aside as inflation-busting stores.

  • hi all :)
quick question for those in the know. after watching some vids on pantries and food storage on You tube, i had a light bulb moment when saw that they were decanting rice, lentils etc. in to jars.

Down the road is a local market with an old fashioned sweet shop, they sell off their old plastic sweet jars for 30p (my auntie buys them for her crafting scraps). Would they be any good for storing dried foods in?

medusamummy, I used to use sweet jars when I had a good source of them for free, but make sure you don't get ones that held peppermint or liquorice :)

I don't have that source anymore but I just bought some new food-grade plastic jars from ebay
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • thanks for the quick reply rosieben.

I read somewhere about the chemicals in the plastics leeching in to foods as they degrade, but then again they were made to store sweets so wasnt too sure. i will grab a couple next time im in the market, and thanks again for the tip, the last thing i want is peppermint flavoured rice with my curry :)

Oh I don't know. I've not had a take out curry for a while, but I'm sure I got a little pot of mint sauce with it. Mint rice could be the new thing. When it makes you a millionaire, please remember me !:rotfl:
  • i could always serve the minted rice with a korma and tell everyone i added mint and yoghurt to the recipe or maybe i could store pudding rice it the peppermint ones. might taste a bit like toothpaste though :rotfl:

Did a bootsale this morning , then went to Lidls and got a some of their Cein toiletries. We already use their shampoo and conditioner, but have never used anything else of the range.
I got Q10 face cream, shower gel, hand wash, mens shower gel and deodorant.
Will let you know how we get on. I hope it's good, it's a lot cheaper than anything else I have seen.:)

    Week 4 -Christmas Cupboard

Just got 10 packs (40) of toilet rolls for £10 in Morrisons.

With the other 5 packs I bought the other day, I should be OK for them until January.
( Surely we can't use more than 60 toilet rolls in 4 months )

Not very Christmas Cupboard, but it will give me extra money to play with in the run up to the big day.
