It's a lot more than that. It's the level of customer service; the way things are dealt with when they go wrong; the baggage policy; seat pitch; cabin environment; being treated as a valued customer; less stress etc. The list goes on.
Whenever I have flown BA, I was always made to feel that I'm 'only' an economy passenger, the flight attendants simply pander to the few people in business class. Once they have served a drink and a bag of peanuts, they simply disappear into the gallery and spend the flight chatting with each other. The level of service is nowhere near to that of Singapore Airlines or Emirates. At least Easyjet and Ryanair are honest and upfront about what they do (and don't) offer to passengers.

With a major accident and strikes/threats of strike in the last few years how you can possibly place BA better than Ryanair (and pay extra for it) is beyond me.

Is this for real? Ae you seriously using the BA38 accident to try and say they aren't a good airline?

The same accident that was caused by a design fault at Rolls Royce, which was nothing to do with BA? The same accident where the pilots were praised for their actions, which directly contributed to getting the aircraft over the fence and saving the lives of many on board, and on the A30?

Ridiculous. Judge BA for what you like but they did a bloody good job that day.

I wonder if a boy-wonder, remortgaged mummy and daddy's house and payed O'Lairey £30k for the priviledge of flying this 737 first officer could have produced the same result?

Yes Ryanair's safety record is good. But make no mistake they've had more than a few incidents the last few years. Doesn't make it into the press though unless it's a smoking hole in the ground.

And for the record, i book the cheapest flights i can, and i use ryanair. However, if the sh*t really did hit the fan, i'd rather be in the back of a BA plane than a Ryanair one.

easyJet is deceiving single passengers by advertising a price based on 2 people travelling.

Nonsense. It's clearly stated below that the price is based on two people traveling so no deception is taking place. And if you're more than two people traveling the price will be lower. You're making a big fuss over nothing.

Did I say BA were directly at fault? Did I say their pilots were insufficient? Did I judge BA on that? No.

Are you now comparing minor incidents to a major one? Are you now ridiculously suggesting/implying Ryanair pilots are inept, under trained and !!!!!! has their back ground got to do with anything? Yes. It's a ridiculous statement to make and though I don't know much about European Pilots and their training, I do know they are all trained to a meticulously high standard and are amongst some of the best trained pilots in the world. Personally I would like to believe than the vast majority of these pilots, regardless of what airline they are flying would be sufficiently trained to deal with most eventualities.

I hope this morning you have read the tripe you wrote last night and either attribute it to Mrs bandg refusing to put out, or on alcohol. Because really, it was a poor effort.

Oh do come on dear... You were the one trying to use the BA accident as some sort of blemish in their record. Fact remains it was a random event that was handled impeccably by the crew on the day. If anything BA38 is an example of everything good about BA.

The pilot debate is most definite thread creep I agree. There are forums on the Internet that can and do debate the issue until the cows cone home. All I'm saying is in any incident I'd prefer an experienced crew over some cadet who has payed for the privilege of flying the aeroplane.

On easyJet's more expensive routes such as London to Amman, I've seen them advertise fares based on 4 people travelling.
The current cheapest fare on this route is £88.99 excluding the admin fee of £9, based on four people travelling this £91.49 per person, which still looks good compared to £97.99 per person for one person travelling.

A fare previously advertised at £30 used to cost me £30, paying with visa electron.

The same flight now has a banner advert of £34.50 with small print below and costs me £39.

Ah I see, so you don't really care about consumer rights, you're just upset that you can't get a discount using Electron anymore. You do realize the only reason you were able to get this discount in the past was so easyJet could spring the debit card fee on passengers at the last step of the booking process? Fortunately that's now a thing of the past. Much better for consumers and much more fair for airlines that never charged those fees.

It's not in small print that the price on the front page website is based on two people booking, it's very clearly written. Forcing companies to add fees upfront does not mean people shouldn't read what's right in front of them.

I love your rejoicing in admin fees.

So you would be completely fine should Ryanair put "admin fee of £6 pp/per flight unless using Ryanair cash passport" in the small print and then advertise the price minus the payment surcharge?

It's no different - I usually fly alone (or if I'm flying with someone, I book separately) so the price advertised by Easyjet wouldn't be achievable for me in many scenarios.
