  • Ohhh dear - I am so sorry!

It is not the end of the world but when you have worked hard :money: and been aiming for a goal and it does not happen due to circumstances outwith your control it can be very frustrating!

Glad you and OH had a blow out! You needed it! ANd you are being SUPER proactive about getting things back on track!

Your onto my jealous list - do you know that! Nice car, mansions, touring bikes, you have made it onto my list with my friend and the girl I stalk in work. :D

You'll need to update MSE more though, makes it harder for me to stalk you if you are not on as much :D:D:D

HAW is there no way you can scrape together the money for the new house?

Thanks unix but I'm actually happy with the way things have turned out. To be honest I think the last year (couple months esp) have made me realise that life is what is important to me, not a house. I've never been materialistic, but for a change I dreamed big and thought it was a good thing. There were a lot of pluses for it, the space, the luxury, the investment, but at the cost of actually having a life?? No thanks. I'd rather enjoy my life than go back to watching every single penny.
Take for example a couple Saturdays ago. I had an invite from my friend to meet her for lunch, and invite to go along with my parents for a birthday dinner for mum. I had to decide which I was going for. I couldn't afford both. It really made me think. That's not why I work!! I shouldn't have to decide! I should be able to do both! Now that's living! :D
So I am definitely happy with the outcome. Plus it takes the urgent pressure off me in finding extra/alternative employment.

....and me and OH were away looking at new kitchens yesterday. Got an appointment on Saturday to get a proper quote :D

Thanks BW but don't be sorry for me. I think things have turned out rather nicely :)

It's funny how we've already got our lives back so quick! Aside from the blow out last weekend, OH mentioned McDs (gross - for the girls!) tomorrow night, and maybe the cinema if there's anything decent on, and walking past a local hotel yesterday he mentioned about their 'all you can eat' breakfasts for us for some Saturday morning. Soon ;)

Ha ha! I don't know if I can justify you being quite so jealous!! Nice car: check (but I only own half remember!!), mansion: un-check, but we're happy with our 3 bed semi ;), touring bikes: un-check, but OH is looking again.....
Only other things are that I'm a part timer (whoop! whoop! lol) and I've no debt. That's all you're allowed to be jealous of!! ;):D

    :eek::eek:

    Ok! :D

  • I am delighted you are happy. I am over the moon for you . You are in control of your own destiny x
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Lovely to read that things have turned around for the better HAW. Even when we don't always get everything we want, there is usually a very good reason behind it I find. Keep throwing good karma in and good karma will surely come back out at you!

I read this the other day: "Learn a lesson from your dog - No matter what life brings you, kick some grass over that $h!t and move on!" It really made me smile!

  • Thanks both :) It feels good to feel positive about life, SBO. Things could've been so different right now! Yet different definitely doesn't have to be bad!

I'll keep referring back to my fav quote from The Art of Being Brilliant
10% of life is made up of what happens to you
90% of life is decided by how you react to the 10%

Your attitude makes all the difference!

:rotfl: Love the quote lilt :rotfl:

Glad you feel ok about it HAW, a big drop in wages can have a big impact ..... if you let it but it doesn't have to.

  • Hey unix. Nothing on the job front at all really. There's very little going here at the minute. I've managed to get a couple application forms for a (fairly) local council for summer work. Not ideal but if I get nothing meantime then I'll be very grateful when the time comes :)

Last week was a bit of a crazy/weird/busy/mentally exhausting time! The girls grandad passed away at the weekend, and the funeral was on Tuesday. The girls got through it ok, and I'm so proud of them :)
And with SIL and OHs ex there, it made it rather... ummmm.... memorable! :p lol

Well, new kitchen has been ordered :j It'll be a few months before delivery and installation, but no rush. Excited about that :D Have also ordered 2 new dining chairs for the kitchen (they're actually from the same range as the console and coffee table we got for the living room!!) When it was just OH and the girls, they only needed 4 seats. Now with me there we have to use a stool too :o Can't wait to see the whole thing done! :D

Have done pretty well on ebay recently too! Last year I just seemed to keep relisting stuff and it never budged. In the last month I've shifted quite a few things. So I'll be scrounging in the wardrobes again before next free listing ;):D

Redecorated - again - over the weekend. Our room this time. Had only been done a couple years ago but a fresh coat of paint was needed. So moved everything (inc the sliderobes ) and got the roof painted too. One feature wall which is behind the bed (so ignore the furniture in the pic!!):

Few wee finishing touches but it looks fantastic so far! Very random and I know it's not to everybody's taste, but we love it :)

Can I also recommend watching The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Rush. Both very good :)
