Oh dear... LOL ok - you are the winner here - how many cats have you got?

With my 4 I estimate the 120 litres to last 6 months - based on it hopefully being similar to Oko

Got bags under my bed, in the wardrobes, in th ebathroom/kitchen.. everywhere... lol

Based on your post, I've just ordered another two lots. Christ alone knows where I'm going to put it all. But at that price I think it's even cheaper than the supermarket value stuff.

    That's so funny!
I am thinking of using stacks of cat litter sacks as a kind of funky bean bag furniture...do you think it will catch on?

It might have to the rate my one's shredding the furniture! I'm thinking of making her listen to 50 Shades of Grey on tape so she stops hating leather so much.

What about wild animal waste that ends up in the water table naturally? Is that a hazard too?

Well quite... given that the sewer system is likely to contain a fair number of wild animals, I would have expected that the water processing was designed to deal with more than just human pathogens. Failing to deal with diseases transmitted by sewer rats would be a bit shortsighted, to say the least. That's quite apart from the point that I'm not at all clear on how you would design a system that only targeted microorganisms excreted by humans and not any others. And the point that if flushable litter was really a major health hazard, the suppliers would probably have had a talking-to by Environmental Health before now.

Cats have lived with humans for thousands of years, so it's unlikely that they regularly carry diseases that are majorly pathogenic to humans. They've been contributing to hygiene by killing the rats for most of history! I'm really trying to think of well known examples in the UK (not elsewhere as there are different endemic diseases in different places) and the only thing I can think of is toxoplasmosis, and as that's a parasite I would make a rather uninformed guess that it would be killed by the treatment for human parasites - IF it's water transmitted at all. Which is not necessarily true of it or any other disease, it depends on the pathogen. The only high listed UK result I've come up with by Googling 'zoonosis domestic cat' is a rather good leaflet from a vet practice and none of the diseases it lists are water transmitted.

As I said, I'm happy to be educated on the subject but I'm not going to put any more time into researching it unless someone can give me a decently well founded reason to. The initial post seems to me to be an emotional reaction, and I'm not clear on the reasoning behind it. I think it would be polite to explain the reasoning, especially when accusing other people of selfishness.

Is it a similar texture to Oko (size of granules etc)?

Not that I have anywhere to put 80l anyhow, but if it's cheaper than Oko even without the offer then would be worth having in smaller orders.

I'm doing a full change of all litter trays tomorrow. Will post my thoughts then... until then, I'm sticking with my 40L ;)

Re flushing litter. I have no issues with the watse itself but rather the litter, which seems to me could contribute to or cause blockages, when you think how cement like some of the litters can go when piddled into. Those of us who are reaponsible for our own waste, on tanks or similar, ar eprobably more used to the 'fear' and reponsibility of things going wrong. I did ask if my dogs watse could go in my biodisc and was told a resounding no, which is a great shame. I have used compostable cat litter, but found it less great.

That did worry me, but so far have only tried Oko and it disintegrates into sawdust pretty much immediately. No problems with it so far. Without wanting to go into details, I would say jelly rather than cement :rotfl: Have been looking on council site but so far can't find any info on what can or can't be flushed!
