I hardly back up lol! I don't really worry about data loss because I can get the data back. But one must back up on a daily basis. When I was 5, my dad told me that the ice-cream van only played songs when it's out of ice-cream. Cheek!:mad:0

I do a full backup once a week of stuff that i would need/want to keep if the hard drive crashed, so pictures, music, documents, saved games, favourites basically anything that would be a pain in the bum if you couldnt get them.
I back this up to an external hard drive and I keep 3 weeks worth of data on that hard drive. I am also considering a second mirrored backup to a small portable hard drive so I can take it out of my home in the even tof a theft or fire.
PS - i only do once a week as not much changes on a daily basis, but if there was lots going on and regualr updates of info etc I would do it daily, on the PC there is a handy, free tool called Cobian Backup, I use that.0 -
I never go for data back up but it seems now I should go for it.0

I must run a backup every week, but what's interesting is whether or not it is best to backup data on a physical storage device such as an external hard drive or to back it up virtually? They seem to be becoming more and more popular... hmmm.0

The world is based off taking riskes but backing up on external devices will be better for me; at least I know where my data is physically stored.
Cloud computing: Very excellent! I've never tried it before but reviews has shown that it is superb. When I was 5, my dad told me that the ice-cream van only played songs when it's out of ice-cream. Cheek!:mad:0 -

I have a NAS drive stored in a separate part of the house to my computers and have an application running on them which keeps a constant synchronization between the computers and NAS drive, this is automatically started if I leave my PC unattended for more then 15 minutes.
I've seen too many people lose all their irreplaceable files (photos) not to do it. I also upload a lot of my photos to Flickr (even if I keep the majority private) so there is an online backup as well.0 -
I have time machine to back up my main Apple every hour that it isn't in "sleep." Once or twice a week I will also back up my macbook onto the same LaCie portable drive. In addition I have important backups on CD, USB stick and Dropbox. Some may say ultra cautious but I can be rather smug when people think that as I woman I don't think of these things but can always say I can produce if things go wrong:T0

San Disk are offering backup drives that are the size of a USB. They're pretty convenient - I've got the 16GB as I've got loads of photos which I'd rather kept backed up.
Time machine is pretty cool too.Crunching Deals since 19850 -
Major backup on every fresh install of Windows via Acronis True Image .
Image one is a basic Windows + drivers . Image two is all programs installed and set up . kept on a second hard disc . Photos Videos Docs etc are not kept on C drive . Music and Video not kept on C drive and also duplicated on a USB hard drive . Stuff working on is normally saved to a non C partition in a work folder . So tends to be relatively little i loose if C drive is corrupt or fails and if non HD failure i can often recover missing files .
Easy in the case of problems !!!! ups or badly installed programs to revert back image to a good copy .
