scheduled back up every weekend - easiest way to back up0

1. Firefox is my main browser & I use the FEBE backup extension to automatically backup my FF environment daily.
2. Karen's Replicator is automatically scheduled to backup my desktop & my documents once a week.
3. Finally, I use Macrium Reflect to make an image of my system either 2 or 3 times per week. I run this manually whenever i've time. It takes about 15 minutes to do.
All the above backup onto an external hard disk. Macrium Reflect saved my butt the other day when I had to reinstall the OS. The restoration took 20-minutes & I was then surfing the net !
All the above are free and have served me well.0 -
If you are an advanced user DeltaCopy (google it, I can't post links) is a wonderful backup tool that uses the linux rsync tool to make regular backups without slowing your computer in the process.0

I have stopped using Live Mesh and started using Drop Box. I find Drop Box more useful because it tells you when a file is sync'ed with the server and your machine with a green tick and also keeps revisions of documents. Also when you delete a file it can be retreived immediately from the web interface, which is very user friendly.
You only have a 2GB limit where Live Mesh has 5GB and also you lose the ability to remote desktop also with Drop Box you only have one folder to sync stuff too. But for word documents and stuff 2GB is more than enough for me, you can also increase the limit if you wish.
I have Drop Box installed on all my machines and also on one machine I have Mozy Backup, which backups up to their servers up to 5 five times a day.0 -
See the light and get an Apple Mac, the Time Machine will back up all changes once an hour, without any user involvement.0

If you have 2 computers. Try Windows Live Sync.
(im not allowed to post the link as it's my 1st post on this forum - search google for Windows Live Sync).
Just say you have a laptop with all your docs & pics you work on, and a desktop at home. Every time both computers are on-line together Live Sync will copy all the files / folders you select onto the other & even update any you change.
Really handy for me if your worried about losing your laptop, but never get round to backing stuff up. Give it a try - it's free!
* As the name suggests you need to be running windows on both machines for this to work & be able to connect to the interent with both.
another little tip: Try not to save any important stuff in the same hard drive partition where the operating system is installed usually C:\ Make a new partiotion or better still get another hard drive - make it easier to get stuff back if the OS ever goes wrong and had to be re-installed.House buying fell through. Lost £1731.240
