I think you are probably a couple of months too early for any S2 bargains, wait until the S3 gets established and I suspect you should be able to pick up an S2 for £150 ish.
But, I am not offering any guarantees here0 -
Hi,
My old phone is about to die so I'm wanting to upgrade.
I'm on giffgaff so don't want a contract phone. I'm not bothered about having the latest model, just want decent fast internet and something easy to use and doesn't take too much tweaking. I'm after something I can get second hand for about £100 - 150.
At the moment I'm looking at the HTC Desire S but I really don't do tech so is there anything similar I should look at?
Thanks
Kate not sure if you have the Metro news your way, on the back page yesterday there was an offer for a HTC Wildfire S 250mins 500mb and 5000txt for £7.50 per month , no upfront fee for the handset, not sure what airtime you are getting with GG, but I suspect it is similar price, hence you could put the £150 in a savings account and use it to exit the contract after 4-6 months , although the full length would cost £180 :cool:0 -

I was looking at the iphone 3gs but have been persuaded out of that because of the faults they are prone to. At the moment I'm looking at the HTC Desire S but I really don't do tech so is there anything similar I should look at?
ThanksG300 for £100, best at the moment...
Interested in getting new phone for daughter who's just got an ordinary non-smartphone on PAYG with Tesco.
The Ascend G300 looks good.
She needs wi-fi connectivity but not internet IYSWIM, but cheap texts and minutes.
If this is a Vodaphone model and comes with a SIM, does she simply put the Tesco SIM in this, or does she have to pay to get it changed. Sorry to sound like a Luddite here but don't know how to change her network and don't want to set her an impossible task.
She wants to stay on PAYG. Is Tesco her best choice?
Edit; Anybody know what happened to theat webpage that compared all PAYG prices on one big table? There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

What the news mean is some functions will only available to newer devices. For example the Samsung s3 have s voice (Siri) but if you update the s2 it will not have that function. The Microsoft is going to use two version numbers for upgrade 7.8 for current users and 8 for new phones with higher specification. I think this make the things easy for people to understand unlike like android where some apps don't work after the update such as SkyGo.
TGM, probably i was a bit harsh in my reply on the android security thread, so my apologies. Anyway, getting back to this thread.
S voice is just a name for a voice control app. There are dime a dozen of those apps on android and have been for a few years now. I was using voice control features on android in early 2010 too.
The name of the app is not important, its the features. If by voice control you mean opening apps, launching navigation, sending sms, calling contact, launching web browser, doing google search etc etc etc, then these have been there on android phones for many years and have been functioning decently.
There are many such apps ... android voice actions, speak to it, vlingo, s voice, etc etc etc

As to the OP... I think the huawei ascend g300 might be in your budget as others have suggested. read the reviews for the phone on techradar and electricpig websites. Also what ever phone you buy, dont forget to try it out in a shop before buying it. But dont expect a budget phone to do everything as well as a more pricier phone. But as far as the reviews go, the huawei g300 seems to have more bang for buck. But i havent used the phone so try t in a shop and satisfy yourself that it fits your needs. Check out the user reviews on youtube for the phone for more info as well. Best of luck.

Just got a Huawei Ascend G300 this week. Writing this post from it.
I was skeptical given the obscure unfamiliar name, but it outspecs everything else in its price range, and I'm yet to find any fault with it. Build quality feels solid.
£15/mo 24mo with 750Mb data, 300min and 500txt, no cost of phone. A bit of haggling was necessary for the 750Mb. (Vodafone).0 -
How about the HTC Desire C? You can pick it up for £130 on O2 (so no worrys about your giffgaff sim not working).0
-
looks like you can get the huawei ascend g300 for £72.95 using codes http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/huawei-ascend-g300-99-delivered-very-1249163
seems like a no brainer deal for that price!bubblesmoney :hello:0 -
No what the news means is that all current devices are running an orphaned operating system. There is no incentive to buy any current windows phone anymore.
The update for existing customers will only bring the new start menu. Eventually they won't be able to update their favourite apps.
As usual you've missed the point. It's called the Osbourne effect.
The Osbourne effect, the Ratner and now the Elop effect :rotfl:
Nokia must now have a new record for introducing their top model in the UK - Lumia 900 - and obsoleting it in the same month.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Hi everyone, thank you all for your suggestions...unfortunatly I ignored them all in a fit of ebay excitement and managed to get a Desire S, locked to O2 and only a few months old for £90. It's arrived and is pretty much perfect for what I need (now I've figured it out)
I hope the suggestions are useful to others though0 -
Does this seem like a good deal? a Samsung galaxy ace free for 7.50 month for 24 months from carphone wherehouse. sorry, can't post links as a new usere
I want a basic phone for sat nav, instead of buying a specific car one, and basic phone and wi fi. Not bothered about too much else. Do you think I can unlock this too, for buying sim cards abroad? And then put my regular sim back in when I return?0
