suggestions for android phone please

Hi,
My old phone is about to die so I'm wanting to upgrade.

I'm on giffgaff so don't want a contract phone. I'm not bothered about having the latest model, just want decent fast internet and something easy to use and doesn't take too much tweaking. I'm after something I can get second hand for about £100 - 150.

I was looking at the iphone 3gs but have been persuaded out of that because of the faults they are prone to. At the moment I'm looking at the HTC Desire S but I really don't do tech so is there anything similar I should look at?

I wouldn't go for a Desire when it has been superceded several times, orange san diego equivalent is a good spec cheap.
Don't rule out the iphones though, some people are more unlucky than others

Surprisingly big screen too, a mate pulled one out at the pub (not.a.word.) and it made my OSF look like a midgetphone.

Have you considered a modern new phone, there are some great ones 'cheap' what is your budget?

The 710 which was going for around £130 in Carphone Warehouse on PAYG seemed an excellent buy.

I know someone with the 800 and that looked good and he is very pleased with it.

It's a real shame that deal has gone now as that's what I'd recommend. I picked one up when it was £130 and it's a hell of a phone for the money (and was even better when they were selling them for £99 for a while!).

The XTC Wildfire S would fit your specification perfectly. It retails from approx £135 new, and has excellent reviews.

The Wildfire S is an awful phone, do not buy it.

Also do not buy the San Deigo, there is no way to unlock it without waiting 3 months for Orange (yet). Also it's locked down tighter than a ducks !!!!, so no root/custom ROM fun.

Bang for buck, currently the G300 as mentioned above is where my money would be.
