OK so I buy an ethernet pci card (installing that scares me though)

Plug belkin access point into it conect laptop to it sort out the ICS and hopefully that works dependant on aol.

Don't have to plug broadband moden into anything except usb on computer.

Sould I get somebody to put in the ehernet pci card or is it easy. HA HA

That's about the sum of it.

If your OS is XP all you have to do is fit the card in a pci slot and Windows will install it for you.

Just google for 'how to fit a pci card.'

When you say 'connect laptop to it' that is of course wirelessly. You'll need to configure the wireless part of the network on your laptop too, so it can 'see' the Belkin.

Ok Thanks to your help now I have a plan.

Does it matter what type/make of ethernet pc1 card and do you know the best place to get one.

My laptop is XP but my PC is ME I just hope that won't complicate things.

    Thanks again

    Thanks Toxteth_OGrady

I followed the link you gave me. Purchased the etherenet PCI card, installed it (scary as it was).

    It is working fine now.

Now I am trying to setup my belkin access point.

When I go to control panel and network I see the usual settings and I see the Ethernet card ok but I do not see any listing for the Belkin access point.

The appropriate lights are lit on the belkin to say it is working fine. Am I missing something here.

The set after that according to the manual says in cofiguring the WAP I type in 192.168.2.254 on my internet browser and I should get a belkin access point setup login page.

I don't it just comes up with "page cannot be found"

I am probably missing a very obvious point somewhere but can somebody tell me where I might be going wrong.

Have you connect the Belkin to the PC's ethernet port with a patch cable to allow you to access it?
