Hello All
Great organic haul there WW - I'm not veggie, but eat veggie a couple of times a week - some great sounding food ideas there. I love falafels. Raspberry liquorice - yummy.:rotfl:
EH - your manager was bang out order - let's hope he gets what he deserves. I'm sure karma will come into it some day.
PP Well done on the story:j:j That is just fab, fab, fab.
Maman - you have prompted me - I shall ring up for a hair appt this very afternoon. Why do we leave it so long - my hair looks like untidy rats-tails at the moment.
Anyway - you'll be proud of me - I finally plucked up courage to visit my parents. Papa was all sweetness and light. I kept a very low profile and studiously avoided any kind of conversation that might upset him. He had a couple of minor rants about the carers and social services but I think we can allow him that. I still think it's all too much for him.
Whilst I was there a couple of large boxes of incontinent pads arrived for mum He couldn't move them and was perplexed at what to do. I had to show him an easy way - open the boxes and take a few packets a time upstairs, then take the empty box upstairs and then put all the packets back in the box. Of course I did most of it - no problem. I just found it sad that he can no longer think things through and problem solve. It really is very sad to see them both so diminished - not just physically but mentally too.
I watched mum negotiate a small step and trembled. Dad leaves her to it when really I think he should just stand behind her to help guide her in case she loses her balance or sways a little. I always did this with OH - just walked behind him with my hands on either side of his waist to help him be steady.
Sooner or later she will wobble and fall. OH wobbled occasionally but never fell because I just applied a little pressure to guide him and help him along.
I have mentioned this to Dad in the past and he screamed at me. I didn't mention it again today - maybe I should have done and risked starting WWIII again. Oh well - As they say "You can't do right for doing wrong".
Have been to Aldi and stocked up on some F&V. OH has four ex work colleagues coming to visit him tomorrow. I have booked a private sitting room at the nursing home and have bought some nice pastries and goodies for them to have with their morning coffee. OH is really looking forward to seeing them.
Oh well time for a little late lunch, a quick tidy round and then prepare dinner - maybe catch up on a bit of the Olympics.
Bye for now.0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for all the product advice - have heard good things about the Aldi ones now I think about it. My nearest store is a bit of a trek but I do have a Lidl quite close by so might take EH's advice and try their one first and then can will have a look at the Aldi ones next time am over that side of town
WW - I keep thinking I want to try threading but I do think it's going to hurt and I'm a bit of a wuss with things like thatAlso my eyes water really easily so don't want to be sat in the middle of a store or something looking like I'm bawling my eyes out - I'll scare off all their customers :rotfl:
Am actually having a really good day so far (am waiting for something to go wrong lol!) Managed to get tickets for the Scottish premiere of the new Dr Who episode followed by a q&a with Steven Moffat, which am quite excited about. Also got an email this morning from one of the places I submitted my Christmas story to asking for a revise and resubmit :jwhich is great as it means they think it has potential so want you to make a few changes and resubmit it. Also have a mystery shop for Dominos tonight so pizza as a treat for tea - probably no good for the diet but have lots of tidying still to do so nice not to have to cook at least.
Hope everyone else has a good day x
PP We don't have an aldi near us but I tend to swap and change anyway. I send for samples off the internet of Olay, Nivea whatevers going really so not bought any for a while now.
I took my DD2 for her eyebrows threaded for the first time today! She had the watery eye problem but the lady doing the threading was very nice and just handed her a tissue. I had givenn her a paracetamol before we went to lessen the pain but she said it didn't work.:rotfl::eek: I admit she did find it painful and she isn't sure if she'll have done again. Myself I don't find it too bad perhaps I'm used it though I don't have it done often really but they do look so much better than when I do them at home.
Well done on the book I'm really pleased for you.
LL Thanks for still looking at my blog.:) I as going to wrap it up but though I have only 1 follower (you):), I do get quite a few hits, at least more than i thought I would so I am going to keep going. There's lots of stuff to go at on the benefits front atm so while ever I have something to write about I'll carry on.
We still haven't received the back money from our appeal win so am still struggling without a freezer, I've save a bit up but could have done with the back money, guess I'll just carry on saving. As it is nearly a month since the appeal I feel a phone call coming on.:rotfl: We are still only receiving the assessment phase amount.
I got my results from my OU course and I have passed.:j
On the exercise I'm needing a kick up the *rs* apart from walking done none this week. Must get some in tomorrow. Going to tackle my hair tonight. A job I hate. Right must get back to the tea.Frump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

Morning all!
Just weighed and have lost 1lb:j. The scales actually wavered at 1.5 lbs but I'll take 1lb for this week.
That's 11lb off altogether and just 3lb to go to the stone. Its strange but this week I suddenly feel thinner, I guess you don't notice a lb here and there so much but they all add up. I think I've actually lost fat but gained muscle too because my shape has changed so much.
They say you have to lose a stone to lose a dress size so I'll have to go and try some things on in the shops. I did buy a maxi dress on Weds that was a size 10 but need to try some trousers or jeans on to really see if they are a size smaller.
I'm off out this morning to a NT country park with my gay best friend (he calls himself that!) and our dogs so will get a bit of fresh air and a stroll around.
Right, he's picking me up at 9am and I'm still here in my dressing gown so better jump in the shower!0 -
Well done WW on your weight loss that's a lot, I lost about a stone a year ago and makes such a difference in how you feel etc. Managed to keep weight roughly same since which given the amount of 'treats' I eat at times I'm surprised.
Said manager is work is being nice as pie to me, I'm just smiling, but still fuming! He off later so will be a bit easierRight back to work!

Hi all
Sorry not posted much this week, have lurked though, so hugs who need them and well done's to all who's had a good week.
Just wanted to share this conversation I had with my mum last night.
She called just after HairyDieters and we were talking about diet and weightloss (now I've been overweight since I had my daughter 11 years and more so since I got an office job and I know that I have to lose weight) she said 'of course you will never be slim again, you've been overweight for too long and you take after your dad, you had a lovely little figure before you got married and had kids' well I didn't know what to say to that. It did really hurt me.
After having a sleepless night and thinking about it, I'm going to prove her wrong and show her she can have a slim daughter again and be proud of me. She's never shown the same proud feelings she has for my borther, for me. He's in the army and despite doing some god awful things in the past he is the blue-eyed boy and he fights for his country and I'm just a number cruncher, (a director of the number crunching company, but thats not the same).
Gosh sorry, didn't mean to put all that out there but once I started it had to get out.
Right off to have a healthy brekkie and start to get this weight off and prove her wrong.
Thanks for reading. Have a good day xxChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

Hewie - how hurtful! Hope you're ok? What matters now is how you respond to the comments - I love your "prove her wrong" attitude. Good for you. I don't know how much weight you want to lose but just break it down into small goals - maybe a half stone by the end of Sept, a stone by Xmas etc. You will find that doing some exercise speeds it up - you don't have to run marathons, just do some extra brisk walking, bit of swimming maybe? What I've found is that doing some toning exercises makes a big difference as well as the fat busting hard work stuff. Your shape changes and you look thinner even if the scales don't show it. I can't recommend www.myfitnesspal.com enough - it tracks your cals and exercise, gives you a cal allowance to aim for etc. Its really helped me. I've lost weight more steadily and easily than with SW (which I used to do) through just simple cal counting and exercise.
Sorry that turned into a bit of a losing weight lecture! Whatever you do - good luck with it. Don't let them get you down, use it as motivation to make them eat their words.
Change of plans today - friend rang and cried off the walk, think he's hungover but wouldn't admit it;) Have just taken dog for a 20 min walk and will think of somewhere to go for an hour or so later instead.0 -
WW Thanks for that, I have started using my fitness pal, have logged on for 10 days now finding it very useful. I have been doing Jillian Michaels shred and am on level 2 but don't do exercise regulary enough.
I think this week has been the best so far for exercise in a long while.
I have about 5 stone to lose and I know I need to think about the elephant (thanks LL that has helped a lot).
I know deep down mum said it with my best intentions at heart but at the time it felt like a smack in the teeth.
I will prove her wrong.
Can I just say WW how you have changed your life around so much. You seem to be in a very good place right now. And the exercise you are doing is amazing. Thanks you are an inspiration. Can you bottle some of what you're on and send me some please? lol.Chiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor
