Yeah - Go Wiggers! :j:j:j(Bradley that is!)
Just been to get my eyebrows sorted and it was like childbirth! A new lady convinced me to have them threaded instead of my usual waxing - OMG - the pain!!! Thought I was going to have to ask her to stop but the end result is very nice - she actually did a very good job. She also persuaded me to have them tinted as they are a bit faint even though I'm naturally very dark, I've never really had much in the way of eyebrows. Very pleased with the overall result. All for £8.:T Thats one more thing from the summer to do list ticked off.
I dropped my engagement ring off at a jewellers to be valued too - no point in it sitting in a drawer when I could use the cash for something else, and picked up a bargain plain black cotton maxi dress in the New Look sale for £7.
Looking forward to a hearty tea of veggie sausages and sweet potato wedges and a watch of the swimming later.
Pod - re mositurisers - I use the Garnier Ultralift anti wrinkle day cream (Davina advertises it and its always on offer somewhere for about £6), its seems to work for me and I've also started using the Aldi own brand serum and nightcream - excellent value and seem to do the same job as the Boots Protect and Perfect range .0 -
Well a milestone achieved today - I completed Level 2 Shred with no problems at all! Go me!
Tomorrow might give Level 3 a go or have a day off and leave it until Friday.
Not much else to report apart from my sale bargains arrived today and all fit in an unbelievable size 8. A skirt for 10 reduced from £35, a dress for same price and reduction, a top for £8 and a skirt for £9 both from £27.50
Go those Olympians too - what a great day of action for all.final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
PP - just a quickie. I second WW's recommendations for Aldi's skin care products. Their anti-agng creams and serums contain the same active ingredients as many of the more expensive brands. They compare very favourably with the Boots Protect and Perfect range.
The Aldi basic day or night moisturisers tend to be abound £1-99, the anti-aging serums a bit more - I think around £3 to £4. Boots P&P range are around £20 or so although they do have 3 for 2 offer on at the moment. The Boots Time Delay Range is currently on offer at half price. I bought some moisturer at £7 but it does have a SPF of 30.
If you don't have an Aldi then Tesco's Skin Wisdom range is also very good and is around the same price as Aldi (maybe a tad more).
Lidl also do a range called Cien - I've not tried their face creams but I do like their hand and body creams and lotions.
Happy Shopping.
Great sale bargains Sparkles and yes some grrrrreat Olympic performances today.:j
Re painful eyebrow treatments or waxing treatments.. Take a couple of paracetamol about 30 minutes before your treatment - it takes the edge off.0 -
Morning all! Been up early and just been pottering around the house since.
Its swimming day again today and I'm hoping to get to the half way point of the swimming summer challenge - 300 lengths of 600. I've also plotted a new walk on a walking/running website for me and the dog - just a 3 mile wander so should take about an hour or so.
I'll do some special needs schoolwork whilst watching the Olympics later and then its bookclub at 7pm. This is a new bookclub for me so hope its not too intellectual;) The book is The Help (recent movie made of it) which I quite enjoyed so hopefully the meeting will be quite interesting?
Right, its time for dog walk no 1 (just a 20 min stroll for doggy ablutions!) - better be off before we have a puddle.0 -
Morning All,
Went for a stroll along a beach front last night to blow away cobwebs and loosen up back & try to destress. The dreaded hormones time and im angry at the world, i know it will pass but does not help at mo! Must remember to count to 10!
On topic of skincreams I use the Aldi serum, first couple of times used skin tingled but now used to it, thinks its £3.49. I used the lidl day cream & just as good as expensive brands, only downside it has spf6, I like to use f30 but have suncream for face so use that.
I am a No7 fan though so might treat myself when on offer or with my points.
Eh xx0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for all the product advice - have heard good things about the Aldi ones now I think about it. My nearest store is a bit of a trek but I do have a Lidl quite close by so might take EH's advice and try their one first and then can will have a look at the Aldi ones next time am over that side of town
WW - I keep thinking I want to try threading but I do think it's going to hurt and I'm a bit of a wuss with things like thatAlso my eyes water really easily so don't want to be sat in the middle of a store or something looking like I'm bawling my eyes out - I'll scare off all their customers :rotfl:
Am actually having a really good day so far (am waiting for something to go wrong lol!) Managed to get tickets for the Scottish premiere of the new Dr Who episode followed by a q&a with Steven Moffat, which am quite excited about. Also got an email this morning from one of the places I submitted my Christmas story to asking for a revise and resubmit :jwhich is great as it means they think it has potential so want you to make a few changes and resubmit it. Also have a mystery shop for Dominos tonight so pizza as a treat for tea - probably no good for the diet but have lots of tidying still to do so nice not to have to cook at least.
Hope everyone else has a good day x0 -
Good news on the story Pod - perhaps things are looking up for you now?
EH - have a rant at us - get it out girl! Will make you feel better.
Officially now at the half way mark for the summer hols swimming challenge - 300/600 lengths. Feeling tons better for it too - stronger and more toned. Makes me calmer too - gives me time to switch off and just count laps instead of the billion things that are normally running through my mind.
Have decided whilst ploughing up and down the pool to go to a local(ish) organic/veggie/vegan independent supermarket for a nosey later. I'm not bothered about eating organic food but they may have some nice things for me to try (I'm a veggie) to keep my interest in food and the diet. There's a nature reserve quite close to it so will take the dog for a walk there instead of the planned one.

Great to hear you sounding so positive pod. That's brilliant news about your story. Do keep us posted. I'm another that uses the Aldi moisturiser (day cream). It really suits my skin. I would imagine the Lidl one is much the same. Agree with EH that it sometimes takes a day or two for any new potion to settle but if it doesn't suit you then you can always use it up for hand/body cream. I did this recently with some Body Shop cream that I found too light for my skin. I have the Aldi night cream too but have been too lazy to use it so far.:o
:T to ww and sparkles, and anyone else managing to stick with exercise programmes. I'm ashamed to say that I stopped last week when the sun came out and haven't been back to it. I really must try harder. Agree EH, that a walk is good for destressing too. I so envy you a walk by the sea.
My hair is looking good at the moment. I know it benefits from a regular trim so why do I always leave it until it's a real mess before making an appointment? Another thing to try harder with. Otherwise, i'm doing fine with general fabbing routine. Generally pleased with my wardrobe, regular pampering and make up routine, healthy food, plent of interesting things to do. So all round OK. Today I must do something constructive and not just sit around watching Olympics (much).0 -

I had to drive there, but worth it, luckily driving the opposite way to all the Olympic football traffic
Not having best day in work, found out a manager sent an email completely blaming me for something when not even my fault! I only know cause my mates dad worked in the other company so told me. Apparently the manager hasn't done himself any favors by blaming me!
Glad to know they think so highly of me, I need out a.s.a.p!
My hair needs cutting and sorting, got major roots and gone like straw, need to go for a cut and colour but its expensive, tried a training college last time and they messed it up and had to go back to get it fixed so won't be doing that again.

Well, I went a little bit bonkers in the vegan/veggie shop but I did put some things back. I bought (and this may sound horrible to some of you meat eaters but yummy to me!) .... an organic and free range pepper tortilla, some greek gigantes bean thingy to have with couscous (tonight's tea now), organic falafel, dried chickpeas, sunflower seeds to snack on, chick pea noodles snacks (a bit like bombay mix) and a scrummy raspberry licorice stick (only 95 cals and scoffed whilst walking the dog). :T
They had loads of F&V there but I try to buy mine from the greengrocers in the village to support the small business - not sure about the pricing either, the local shop puts a label on boxes of things like 79p or says 4 for a £1 etc but this was all in kilos - even for a science teacher it was difficult to tell whether they were a good price or not:rotfl:
45 min walk around the nature reserve too so now feel justified in "testing" some of my purchases!
And no organic chocolate eclairs available - probably a good thing;)0
