Rooney didn't look particularly fit, but he was the person who was there when the ball came across.

Yes, but I think more credit should go to the player who supplied the pass, the same player who later put Rooney clean through and was the man of the match ... i.e England's captain, Gerrard. If the media want to focus on one player as being responsible for putting us through, it should have been him.

Before anyone asks, I am NOT a Liverpool fan!

I was only hearing somewhere the other day how crap he was and how few times he'd touched the ball in so many games (might've been on the Radio I can't remember).

And now he's an fffing hero! Give me a break!

He was going to have to have his first game against someone, IMO it was best to do it last night agaisnt lesser players than he will face in the quarters and when Scoring wasnt neccessarily a must to get thorugh, rather than waiting till the Italy game where chances are if you dont score you will be out.
  • Hi,

you'd have thought with all the hype about him before them game he was the new Messiah and the second coming was nigh.

Hope they get crucified on Sunday.

Personally I wouldn't play him against the Italians, other than maybe as a late sub.

Whether he's overrated even when fully match-fit is a moot point, but he certainly doesn't look the part based on yesterday's performance.

    Footballers are overpaid.

There should be a cap on earnings of £100,000 per match.

there should be a cap on 10,000 and thats still being genrous

Its all about opinions as they say!! In mines, i just cant believe any England fan would think they are better off without Rooney.
