Tesco Price Inequality - Over 3 times dearer in Liverpool Extra ??
Comments
-
All normal superstores and Extras do not have the same prices. They have different base prices and different offers on at different times. Express, Metro, Superstore and Extra are all priced differently to each other. Then on top of that you have the petrol stations, even those attached to stores that are priced differently again.
Tesco airily told the Competition Commission that... "We sell all our products on the basis of a national price list available for all to see on our website. It is not our policy to vary prices by reference to location. Our Express stores are on a separate national price list under which they sell products at an average of 2%-3% higher than our other stores because of higher costs"

Sorry but how is this a rip-off in any way, shape or form? It's not a human right that you can get the cheap lemonade at your nearest Tesco. It's perhaps odd that they don't stock it if other Tescos do but that doesn't make it a rip-off.0 -
If it bothers you that much stop buying Lemonade - its abd for you anyway.
Tesco is a business and are not in Business to lose money but to make money. Selling 17p lemonade probably doesnlt make them much money, so they stopped in your shop as they discovered it was more profitable just to stock the 57p stuff.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Hang on.. put this another way..
I low carb because I have diabetes. Recently, ASDA stopped selling the full fat low carb no added sugar version of live Total Greek yogurt in favour of the 0% fat version so instead of paying 2.10 for 500g I have the choice of 2.39 at Sainsbury's or 2.39 at Morrisons.
Supposing we were talking about a gluten free product, we'd probably all be supportive of the OP then.0 -

Wrong again.
You can go back and check if you like, but there's been plenty of people supportive of what I am saying.MrsShawToBe wrote: »Its not needless from Tesco, they adapt what they sell depending on what customers buy. Obviously not enough profits were being made on the 17p lemonade, so they have scrapped it from that store.
What isn't there to get?
That's what they state, yes, we know that. But on this occassion, are you seriously trying to tell me you believe that, based on on the informaton you've already been given.
Or, more likely, are you just conveniently choosing to believe that instead of Tesco needlessly profiteering from poorer customers?MrsShawToBe wrote: »If people don't have a car, then boo hoo, get a taxi or a bus?!
Totally missing the point yet again.
Give up whilst you can, you're just making yourself look stupid.0 -
MrsShawToBe wrote: »And they're not charging 3 times the amount, its a different brand of the product. If they were charging VALUE lemonade at 57p or whatever, then fair enough.
They are actually charging OVER THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT. I said the product was essentially the same. I know the 57p one is branded to be the 'Superior' one, but are you seriously telling me that it's made in a much 'superior factory' with much 'superior' ingredients? In all honesty, it's probably made in the same place, using the same products etc etc, but you keep kidding yourself if it makes you feel better.MrsShawToBe wrote: »Stop worrying about other people and sort yourself out.
Nice attitude.MrsShawToBe wrote: »The end point is, that shops chop and change what products they sell on a weekly basis. They need to do this as their wall's aren't made of elastic, there are 100's of new products every month and they simply cannot stock everything.
Just a reminder, I did say this is the biggest Tesco store in Liverpool. It's walls, whilst not elastic, are certainly much further apart than any other.0 -
You know what, you obviously have too much time on your hands if worrying about lemonade is the bane of your life and you feel so passionatley about it!
You're not going to listen. Go preach to tesco about it. Tell them how you know that all their own products are the same with different packaging etc.
for the sake of 40p you are having way too much of a hissy fit!0 -

Yes.
Basic lemonade is essentially carbonated water, sugar, lemon juice from concentrate (2%) plus some other stuff. It's the same whether it's own brand, Schweppes or whatever. The Everyday Value Sugar Free stuff is water, citric acid and flavourings, no actual lemon juice.
Of course if you like the stuff, then 17p a bottle is a bargain, and paying an extra 40p for a bit of lemon juice might seem an extravagance/0 -
If you drink 3 times less, it will cost you the same.
Alternatively you probably have a tap in your kitchen that dispenses another clear liquid suitable for drinking.
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
