This is nothing new, I'm afraid. I phoned ahead to make sure my two were in stock (one for me, one for my mother). The chap I spoke to went off to ask someone where the stock was. I heard the other chap telling the chap who still had me on the phone about all the members of staff who had had one (or more). Then the chap came back on the line to me and said that they'd sold out. I then told him I'd just heard every word that other bloke said about staff having them. He tried to say that staff had had them before I placed my reservation. I countered this with the fact that I'd also heard the other chap tell my chap that so and so had two put back and she'd pay for them at the end of her shift that same day. I made my reservation the day before, so she obviously hadn't bought hers before I'd reserved mine. Eventually, I had to ring CS who contacted the store. The store came up with some of the most amazing bull imaginable, even the CS representative didn't believe them. In the end, the CS told me to go pick up my vacuums. The store was not happy when they handed over my goods. Due to the attitude of the member of staff who handed me my items, I said "You tried hard, but I won in the end". I then walked out, one vacuum under each arm.

By the way, it's very easy to check other stores' stock - Eclipse allows you to do this by inputting the store code, then searching through the stock for that particular store. Eclipse is used by all stores in the DSG, so Currys can check stock in PC World, for example.

Absolutely excellent! About time these thieves got their come-uppance! I can't believe the amount of people in this thread who have just accepted being defrauded out of their vacuums. Nice one!

Had the same happen to me (read further up the thread), the staff were obviously trying to keep them for themself, the level of service I got was shocking, they were extremely rude to me and the manager wouldnt see me (i waited for around 30 minutes), I could actually see he was just talking to the security guard at the other end of the store. They were lying through their teeth to try and get me out the store without my reserved vacuum, didnt work though. ;)
  • Same thing happened to me yesterday evening. I trusted Currys when they said they had reserved one and I took my paperwork. I travelled 15miles to pick up a vaccum that didn't exist! Customer Services were rubbish, my code didn't work in there computer system, a SA spent 20mins in the stock room (apparently) looking for it and came back to tell me they had 'sold out'. A total waste of time and energy and won't be going back to curry's. I told them I will make a complaint and that didn't bother the SA in the slightest, no apology nothing, just handed me a leaflet with there telephone number on.
This was Curry's in Crawley- don't bother to go there.

  • Crawley store?
They are excellent. I didnt purchase one though. However I was after an xbox 360 once. The sales guy told me that there was a misprice on the item and I would get a couple of games for free along with a HDD. Paid £199 for a premium system and a couple of games.

    Manager wasnt too pleased though.

I brought a washing machine from them. Made them match their internet price, knock the delivery off and threw in a cheapo kettle.

    Not bad.
  • This isn't a service, to give customers acknowledgement they have a item reserved and then to arrive at a store and to be told they have have none in stock- this isn't customer service.

People don't need at the end of a hard working day to drive x amount of miles for nothing, I will think again in future when reserving any item with a store.

  • Copied my post from the 5* service board to here, in case anyone has difficulties with their purchase -

I purchased a Morphy Richards hand-held pets vaccum from currys when it was only £4.98 in March this year, however the turbo brush attachment recently stopped working.

I emailed Morphy Richards about this and they kindly ordered a replacement turbo brush to be sent directly to me.
However, as a week pasted i emailed them for an estimated delivery time, and unfortunatley there was a dely as they don't make this model anymore, however i would recieve it by mid Novemeber.

I replied requesting an alternative model as the reason i purchased this model was for the turbo brush to aid the removal of cat hairs which effects my allergies.

Without further ado i was offered the new model which was released in June this year - a mini cylinder pets vaccum with turbo brush - this one http://www.greatuniversal.com/rf/gus/navigation/product.do?Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&SNtt=73169&groupId=423126275&Nu=this_product&SNtk=littlewoods_search&Np=1&SN=85+103&Ntt=423126275&D=423126275&Ntk=group_search&Dx=mode%2bmatchall&thisprod=405175275&N=85+103&Nty=1&Mis_item_id=15&Mis_item_loc_id=1&product=405175275
Though they will not cancel my order for the replacement turbo brush, stating i will now have a spare vaccum.
    This, of course, i accepted.

This is the best after sales service i have recieved from any manufacture and gives me great confidence in buying their products in the future.

It was completely hassel free, no request of proof of purchase, just a few emails, and it's all sorted.

Thank you Morphy Richards, I shall purchase from you again.
