I'm just wondering if it's okay to freeze fresh cut up potatoes as i've peeled and cut too many for chips tonight and don't want to waste food.

So any ideas on what i could do? :)

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this question.

I par-boil them before freezing. About 5 minutes - then drained, spread on trays, and open-froze before being bagged up (freezing on a tray stops them sticking together)

if you can use them tomorrow or the nest day, cover in cold water and pop in the fridge, they will keep for several days

Just 'cos they are cut chip shape doesn't mean you have to use them for chips. Keep in water in the fridge and boil them up for mash tomorrow or the day after!

I find they just go sloppy in the freezer.

I have kept potatoes in water in the fridge for several days. make sure they are completely covered or they go black.. still edible though :p

Yep - pop them in water in the fridge.

Or you could make mash and keep it in the fridge for a few days or freeze it :)

cooked (partially or fully) potatoes freeze fine, raw potatoes go black and yucky. (this is why potatoes are harvested and stored rather than being left in the ground overwinter)

    Happy new Year everyone.:T

I need to ask about freezing potatoes once cooked. Can I freeze mashed potatoes and roast potatoes. Im on a mission to make spare meals to freeze each time I cook.

I want to do individual portions of both mash and roast.

if I let them cool then put them in those foil trays you get take-aways in will that be ok or is there anything else I should be doing.
