You can freeze mash quite well.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

I too would say mash, put in some pesto, or some cheese and freeze them in an oven proof dish. Then reheat for 20 mins and serve from dish, ends up a bit like the top of a cottage pie.
Also you can make roast potatoes, just cook them up to 5 - 10 mins before the end, then cool and freeze. Then wack them in the oven still frozen at 220 degrees for about 15 - 20 mins. They taste yummy.0 -
You can also make some pototo croquettes and freeze, a potato dauphinose freezes nicely as well.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Why do you need to freeze them? Potatoes store very well- after all they will have been harvested several months ago.
I have had a 20 kilo sack of spuds in my garage for at least two months.
Just store them somewhere dry and cool and away from the light.0 -
I always use up my extra spud this way by boiling then mashing them.I use an ice cream scoop to make into round balls of mash then open freeze.Once frozen bag up and use as and when required. Microwave them till piping hot .Great time saver as well when you don't feel much like cooking in the evening0

I find frozen mash, needs a bit of remashing when defrosted with some butter, microwave is best for this - but it is a fantastic time saver.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

I agree with thriftlady - potatoes will store in a cool dark place for months
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread to give you more ideas.
