my mum mashes them with a little butter and milk, then uses an ice cream scoop and scoop them on a tray to freeze.when frozen, bags them, so she can get out as many scoops as she needs. these microwave fine.just dont make the mash too sloppy as it can make the mash wet as it defrosts.:hello: :j0

Thank you, I`ll definately try both of those ideas0

I think the problem is high water content. I still feeze mashed pots but use them for shepherd pies.Mortgage free after 12years

Hi Icewytch,
There's an earlier thread with lots of advice on freezing potatoes that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.

Could I make some baked tatties, scoop out the centres, mash with cheese, pile back into the skins and then freeze? How would I then go about reheating them?Jasmine0

I don't know about the cheese thing, but I have done jacket potatoes before in the oven when I've had pots that need using up, then froze them and reheated in a microwave. Since you can freeze cheese I would assume you'd just reheat them in the same way.

Yes you can freeze these. Just let them defrost and reheat in the oven about 180 degrees if you want crispy skins.
I'll add your thread to the one on Freezing potatoes later to keep the suggestions together.

Got a couple of bags of Maris Pipers in our local Coop that were on their best-before date (for 20p each, instead of £1-something)...
I want to somehow freeze them, as I know I won't be able to use them before they go off...
How do I freeze them? Is it better to cook them as mash (since we eat a lot of it) and then freeze them in my freezer boxes?
Thanks!0
