  • The deal looks good, although they do have a Fair Use Policy and block certain ports (according to their published T&C's) - but can anyone who is with them give an idea what the service is like?
I was with them in the old dial up days and had no issues at all. My sister is still with them on Broadband. She says that they occasionally have server problems, I also get some emails returned to me as undelivered. Customer service lacks a bit, but then so do most of them, but for the money they arent bad. I am looking at Orange Home max for £24 a month this includes your BT line rental AND they allow free calls on the second line that they give you over the broadband. ie you keep your current number and get another one as well from the Live box (router). Calls to Orange mobiles are free! Calls on the main line are free at evenings and weekends. Seems a good deal?
  • any one on supanet? any one know if their tech support is in india is my first main question!

  • i would think very, very hard before joining Supanet

12 month contract, but if you cancel within 2 years, there is a hidden charge in the terms

£39.99 cancellation fee if you leave within 2 years
14.1.1 Cancellation of your account within 24 months of your account activation date or most recent upgrade will incur a cancellation charge of £39.99. If cancellation occurs before the expiry of the Minimum Period you will also be liable to pay the charges that would otherwise accrue during the remainder of the Minimum Period

help line 50p/min, poorly rated support
any equipment supplied by them will need to be returned when leaving, or they require payment for it, even years later!

besides all that, their network is really overloaded, users suffering poor speeds/pings

you can read about people's problems/trying to leave over here :-

It's very rare you cheap and good in the same sentence when talking about an isp.

I ma sorry but I completely disagree. I used to be on UKFSN for £19.99 plus BT line rental of £11 ish. It was a great service. I have since moved to Virgin on the 20MB service for a total of £34.50 inc. extra TV channels, V+ and free fixed line calls 24x7. According to that link I have gone from one of the best providers to one of the worst. In fact the service I now get is far better than the fantastic UKFSN service. Don't believe all statistics!
  • I only browse and email so i ask again anyone happy with supanet(cheap and good excluding gamers and psp)
  • well i do know someone reasonably happy with them, but they are the sort of person who probably wouldn't know the difference between 8MB and 8KB
i have advised them to move when their 2 years is up, don't know if they will.

If speeds and ping are completely irrelevant to you then perhaps it may be for you, but the 2 year lock-in is an awful long time.
If you leave before 2 years, you have to pay for any unused months, plus the cancellation fee of £39.99

Also, two years is a long time for things to change. They have been in administration, only came out around 1 year ago?
if things don't go well, who is to say it doesn't happen again?
then you are left with probably no broadband and most likely no mac

Remember the rip-off from sleezydsl when E7 went bust?
why risk it, there are other cheap-ish deals around from much better companies.
