  • I've just put in an order for some of the stationary I need for University. Instead of using my credit card to purchase the things from Ryman, I have used up the leftover credit from an Amazon Gift Voucher to get the items. This has saved me £5.32 which is roughly 1.064% going into my University fund.

Hello all I have just decided to try this and just had a question about paying the extra 1%'s to my credit card.

Is it better to pay the minimum when its been released and then the eatra 1%'s on top of that, or can you just pay the % when ever you have it.

    e.g.
my statement came out a few weeks back and i paid my minimum on the 24th around £50, I came into some extra money yesterday so i paid an extra 3% (£30) towards my balance but, but my new statement came out today so not sure weather that will count towards me paying more or just towards the new minimum as it has not cleared yet.

    does that make sense?

    asoe209 Yes I think so!

Personally I do not save money for ages but I will keep it from one statement to the next and then just pay more.

I believe you can pay in between statements but I have never bothered and have always found it easier to just wait for the monthly bill to arrive.

happytails - sorry Tesco codes don't work for me either - must be specific to you. I know my son got sent some but I couldn't use them either - think itslink to your Tesco card number perhaps.

I find it better, mentally, to pay it off as I have it. Then when I log in I see payments of £28 or £56 here and there and it spurs me on better. I also have a direct debit for the minimum amount. It's a cashback (well M&S so M&S vouchers) card so I also try and buy my weekly petrol (£40) and pay that off instantly. I like to see lots of little payments a few days apart.

I don't know about in financial terms lol.

Hi everyone and congratulations all of you who have added more %'s to your total. :T

I've not had a brilliant week % wise but am having a lovely time with the kids going out, playing and crafting away.

I have managed to book a couple of nights away for a couple of weeks time - we are visiting Legoland and Chessington (tickets bought using clubcard rewards - of course). We were going to camp somewhere but the weather being what is it at the moment, we have decided to stay in a premier inn instead.

I am quite proud though as I will add a more % to my total soon due to money saved for this trip. Just by a couple of days later (15th instead of 13th) I managed to save £17 on the hotel.

The tickets to Chessington & Legoland would have cost us £199.10 but as I used my clubcard rewards (we had loads as OH took up the mobile offer they recently ran & got 20000) I calculate we saved £113.10 - so in total I shall be adding £130.10 to the savings very soon - just waiting for all the tickets/confirmations to come through before transferring.

That means another 5% will be added very soon - not bad considering OH was going to book online and pay full ticket prices etc xx :D

Right, I've made a list of what I can list on my local Facebook selling group:

    Wii and Wii games
    DS game
DVDs (if I can bear to part with any. I've got some nice box sets and all the Family Guy DVDs but I never watch them...I've already whittled down my collection dramatically)
Craft items (I'm thinking get together all my paper, glue gun, etc and list as one job lot)
    Phone cases

Now to just get the motivation to find, photograph and list them.
