Can I join?
Although my 1% is slightly different, I'm trying to save to get myself some wheels (two, in the form of a scooter) and get myself back on the road. It'll be useful as I can do a few more sessions instead of having to wait for buses and being stuck to public transport. My target is 600 but I want to see if I can smash it.
I've sent off my DVDs to Cex, and should get around 100, so I'm already up to...16%! Have 24 items on eBay too, and will try and sae my pennies* Jan NSD *

Morning everyone :hello:
Got another £6.26 (after fees etc) to add, might make me up to a full 2% woop!
In other news, new puppy will be with us on Friday :j
Also, my dad has said he wants to sell his house to me and DH :j We have been living in his house for over 2 years now, he lives at his girlfriends house, really chuffed that he has finally realised he can't just 'keep' the house forever, he will have to sell eventually. Big problem though is that I don't think I can save a deposit
How can I save 10% deposit, perhaps as much as £8K when I'm trying to pay off two credit cards plus the £8K odds I still owe my sister???Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -

Hi zepsgal - great news about the house! Maybe as it is your dad he will hold on and wait for a while before you actually need to give him the money..... Owning your own home is a great motivator to sort out your finances. OH & I are in the middle of organising our finances so that starting from Sept we will be aiming to clear our mortgage in 10 years. Hoping this will rein in our wastage on things like buying ready made sandwiches. Maybe talk to your Dad about when he needs the money (i.e. 6 months or 6 years from now?) from you and then work out your saving priorties. I'm guessing te credit cards first.... Maybe your sister would be understanding and allow you to pay her back more slowly while also saving for your deposit?
Anyway what I meant to say was good luck1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100

Thanks Liz-Paul :-)
My dad still uses one of the downstairs rooms as his home office, so he is at the house a few days a week. He is retiring in April, so ideally I wouldn't be buying the house til then. So it does give me approx 9 months. Sounds do-able, but......
I've never actually had savings before. Never been able to put money by and keep it, without spending on XY or Z that we 'neeeeeeeed'! DH was made redundant last year and has been working hard to start up his own business, so that's bringing in some money here and there. Everyone keeps telling him to get a FT job, but with us getting the new puppy, a FT job just isn't right for us, no matter how much we could use the cash. Ach, my head hurtsCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -

I've made a £50 payment to my credit card which has gone through. To make it all easier I've decided to round up my debt to £2700 (it's £2684) which 1% is £27, so I've worked that out that the £50 payment is 1.85%. I hope I worked that out right, as maths isn't my strong point! I did 50 divided by 2700 multiplied by 100 - I'm sure someone will be kind enough to correct me if I've done that wrong.
I need to do my spreadsheet of 100 squares so will do that later today, as I know filling it in will spur me on. Hopefully I'll be in a position to make another payment next week once my paypal transfer (ebay sales) has completed.0 -
Hi, I'd really love to join here, what a great idea!
At the moment it will be a bit difficult for us to save much as I'm currently not working and my OH is finishing work next Friday because in 10 days we're moving about 2 hours away! So we sort of need all the money we can get just to live off! I have been selling bits on ebay and trading games and dvds in etc. and so far we've made about £95 from that in the last weekI'd really love to pay OH's credit card off as soon as we're a bit more settled money wise, as we currently pay £70 a month for it, and it barely goes down! So, my 1% is just £13.33!

Hi Smoosh and welcome
Well my Asda order arrived. Stocked up for months with toothpaste, loo roll and other toiletriesAlso got enough weetabix to last until end of august for the kids. Extra beans, soup and enough potatoes to fill the freezer with HM chips :j got a few other bits too.
Ive devised a plan of what we are going to live off for the next 4 months whilst we save to pay our car off. Well a loose plan, for those who are interested:
Breakfast
weetabix (own brand) for the kids (2 each), eggs (from our chickens) and bacon of various forms ( bacon and cheese omlette and scrambled egg/bacon), small glass of fresh juice.
Lunch
For me and kids will be, either soup and sandwiches, egg dish, beans on toast, pasta and sauce, jackets/chips with various sides. Yogurt for the kids after
Snacks
Grapes occasionally, bananas, almonds, cucumber and dip, jam on toast etc HM cakes and biscuits.
Dinner
Various things like HM chips and omlette, corned beef hash, cottage pie, pasta bake etc etc. Veg on the side, usually peas, broccoli or carrots
Supper
Porridge or banana.
Does that seem quite balanced? It will be relatively cheap i think as we will drink water the rest of the time apart from morning juice. Eggs are plentiful in this house. So i think ill just need butter, cheese, bread, bacon, bananas, veg and potatoes weekly with meat as i can afford/on offer etc and top ups of oats, weetabix, tinned goods, baking goods etc Thinking it will bring our food bill down ALOT without the kids noticing too much!
My friend sent me some fabric so i can make a friends baby shower present and she also gifted me a little newborn dress and long sleeved top set, really touchedanother cute little outfit for the baby
Getting there slowly. :T
Well ive waffled on alot as usual, best get off and check my ebay salesx

The only thing I could add to your list Happytails is 'whatever you can get that's YS'
Be it meat for roasting, veg for soup making or fruit for pie/crumble making.
Also vouchers are your best friend! I get laughed at off my family cos I have an envelope full of MOC's in my bag, but they aren't laughing when I get free/nearly free stuff!
