    Hello hello,

    Have missed everyone ...

    Well the trip was 'variable'.

The hotel was beautiful, and the food was first class. The room was quite small but very nice, I usually go for the modern minimalist style but the classic style of the hotel was a pleasant change. The breakfast was simple but the best quality.

The only let down with the hotel was a slightly nosy/ over zealous maid. I bought some Camper shoes on Saturday, and wore them on Sunday and Monday. Monday night I went to pack and realised that the maid had thrown away the box, the bag and the receipt! The first problem with this is that the maid would have had to open the shoe box to realise that it was empty - what was she doing looking in my bags?!! Second, the shoes are actually faulty (the heels are falling off!), and as I no longer have the receipt I may have problems returning them. As I didn't discover this until v late last night, the hotel are 'looking into it'. Didn't dampen my positive experience of the hotel though, these things can happen anywhere!

The negative side of the trip? Paris ... and its people. I love colourful places, both in terms of architecture and culture. Paris is grey. The majority of its people are arrogant and ignorant (unlike other areas of France, where I have met some adorable people). If one more person barged into me, or pushed in front of me in the queue to be seated in the restaurant ... I could have screamed. I really do think that people make a place, and the people make Paris incredibly unfriendly.

So in summary, a fantastic hotel, some dodgy shoes, and some horrid, horrid people! x

Thanks for your review. I was awaiting your comments on the Castille Hotel as we are staying there in July.

I was surprised with your comments on Paris and the people. Our next visit is our fifth, always in the summer, so it isn't so grey !! We always dine in small french restuarants, away from the obvious tourist areas and had excellent service and good value meals. Last year we had 3 course meals with wine and tip for 50 euros, for two.

You will love the Castille, and though it is not in the most touristy of areas, it is in a very exclusive area (next door to the Chanel design studio), and so things were expensive.

You are definitely at an advantage in knowing where to go. As I was alone, the smaller restaurants always look a bit intimidating, much easier to go somewhere that I can be anonymous!

I have heard all the locals leave Paris in the summer ... I may go back then! x

    Hi Lucy,

Can't find any big savings under the EJH offer for Newcastle I'm afraid, as most of the central hotels are at the hotels standard rates. Have compared the EJH ones to HotelsComparison and to LastMinute.

Have also looked at Days Inn to see if they had a hotel in the area (they also run a very good offer), but am afraid they don't.

Sorry ... and wherever you end up, have a great night! x

A real quickie, I have found a hotel from Freedom direct which is a lot cheaper than easyjet surprise surprise !!! Freedom direct shows room as twin and easyjet shows as double/twin standard. Do you think that easyjet will honour the claim ??

    Thanks very much in advance.
