Does anyone know what happens if you transfer from a notice account to a fix? Does the rate get locked at the time of application and start at the time of transfer, or can the rate go down during the notice period?
ISA transfer forms always have an option for you to tell them to wait until maturity (or give the appropriate amount of notice) but what may counteract that in certain circumstances is that most ISA providers will have a limit as to how far in advance you can request an ISA transfer and get the funds actually transferred (to prevent you locking in a good fixed rate now and only funding it in 6 months time, for example), but it's rare for them to state this time period in the T&Cs.

I guess an alternative would be to request a transfer into an easy access ISA first.

What is your notice period ?

2 months so might be possible. Most funding windows are to receive instruction of a transfer, not receive the actual transfer, but can the rate change during the 2 months?

Yes - ISA providers always have a deadline for receiving transfer requests into fixed rate ISAs but they will also have a limit as to how far in advance you can request this (to prevent the scenario I mentioned above) and it's this additional window that is rarely mentioned.

With fixed rate savings accounts, you should get the rate specified at the time you apply (as these will be the terms you sign up for) but only if the account is funded appropriately with the minimum balance and within the time allowed, whether that's by new subscriptions or a transfer-in.

It would be worth contacting the new provider to clarify whether a 60 day delay for funding is acceptable to them.

Can anyone clarify this with Shawbrook.
If you already have an existing 1yr fixed ISA, that was opened, say, last April, do they allow you to add more to it now.
And can it be a transfer or does it have to be new money.

For anyone else on the Charter Savings ISA Issue 62 that is dropping to 4% AER, and has noticed the Issue 61 is dropping to a better rate of 4.11% AER, you can open an Issue 68, which is also 4.11% AER. I've just done that and will transfer my Issue 61 issue funds over on 12/12 (you have 30 days to fund the new ISA).

With Shawbrook fixed rate cash ISAs, you can add new subscriptions up to your full ISA allowance each tax year throughout the duration of the fixed term. This is unusual for a fixed rate ISA and there are only a few providers who allow this.

They state that transfer-in requests beyond the initial transfer window 'may be refused' and I think there were a few reports of people doing this successfully a few years ago when interest rates were rising but, now that rates are falling, they've stopped allowing this (from at least the beginning of this year).

    Thanks for that, good move.

When12/12 comes can you do the transfer online yourself or do you need to contact Charter to do it?
