Yes, the transfer doesn't count as 'opening' a new Cash ISA.

See this post for some of the current best Cash ISA offers.

Yorkshire Building Society are offering a fixed rate for 1 year of 6.3% on ISAs opened this month which looks good to me. http://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/taxfree/anniversary/detail.jsp

The only higher 1 year fix listed on moneysupermarket when I looked was Julian Hodge Bank, and I prefer to use building societies where possible. (There's a higher 6mth fix but I prefer 1 year.)

I think this should go on the list when it's next updated.

  • Newcastle Building Society have this week launched a 1 year fixed rate cash ISA offering a guaranteed rate of 6.60%.

Not really a 1-year FRISA, as it has a fixed maturity date of 13 August 2009.
    eMoneyfacts details here:

"FIXED RATE OPTIONS BOND ISA Issue 18: a fixed term Cash ISA maturing 13.8.09 with a minimum investment of £500 paying 6.60% on maturity. Transfers in not permitted. Earlier access and transfers out permitted on 60 day loss of interest. Additions permitted whilst issue remains open."

    Newcastle BS details here.

Newcastle Building Society have confirmed that any monies transferred will earn 6.60% now and until on maturity. Not sure whether 6.60% will be good value in August 2009. There is a 60 day notice period option though.

Ruffler Bank have reduced the minimum deposit requirements for their ISA to GBP3.6k (originally 9k).

BTW, Ruffler customer service are a pleasure to deal with.

Anyone know much about Julian Hodge bank?

I feel 'safer' going with YBS at 6.3% FRISA, but JH offer 6.5%

Might be bad news, service wise, if they get inundated with applications. Will cost a fortune in umbrellas!

They don't appear to advertise to the masses, so it's unlikely this would happen.
