Well actually i suppose you could just open an easy access and get the online banking details?  Yeh you won't need a current account will you, just it seems, be an existing customer with online banking access. I don't think you need to be an actual current account holder.

Even to apply for an easy access saver directs you to logging in it seems.
I have all login details, but because i have no accounts there it wont let me log in and says something like 'all accounts have been transferred'
Looks like only way is to open a current account or call them.

Oh that's annoying. I'm in two minds whether to open a current account for it. I was going to go go with a 2yr fix with Virgin actually, who i already bank with anyway, but it is only slightly higher than this 1yr option with Barclays and this seems to have some quite beneficial quirks to it. Decisions decisions.

Just contacted Barclays re my online access, ws told i need to open a current account to get online access and then can open the Flex cash ISA. No option to open the ISA otherwise.
I was a previous Barclays customer and have my log in details, but can't log in as i have no accounts there currently
  • I wonder with the Barclays fixed ISAs, if you can open one now, but not fund it until the next tax year?  For those of us who have used our full ISA allowance already.  Or if Barclays would close it if it's not funded within x number of days.

No, you can't do that - you either have to open it with a minimum of £1 or a transfer request within 30 days.

"You can open this ISA with £0 if it’s being funded by an ISA Transfer-in (ISA Transfer-in requests must be received within 30 calendar days from the date of account opening), otherwise the minimum deposit is £1."

I'd stay well away from Virgin. Transferring away from them was a nightmare, leaving me stuck on their low maturity rate, and they've still not allocated someone to my complaint from June. I'm escalating it to the ombudsman next week. They've potential to be an absolute shambles for you. They're advertising slightly better rates than others without the infrastructure to make things happen efficiently. It's not worth the hassle.
  • I have transferred out of virgin a couple of times without a problem, so you might just have been unlucky.  They also have some of the more lenient fixed rate isa penalties.

I accept it's bad luck, but I've had a few transfer issues over th years, and have always been reliant on an organisation sorting them out in a timely manner.

The fact that they were prepared to not touch my complaint for 6 months is what horrifies me. That leaves you very exposed in the, admittedly unlikely, event of problems.
