Did they manage to get account numbers for funding to you the same day as you returned the form ?kaMelo said:
I had a telephone appointment yesterday (booked it two weeks ago) as I wanted their five year ISA @5.05%. Prior to the call I noticed this had been withdrawn from sale so expected to have a "discussion" over the matter but had no problems whatsoever.SnowMan said:Cumberland has overnight reduced it's rates on its 1 year and 2 year fixed term ISA accounts. Available only to those in the local area.1 year down from 4.25% AER to 3.7% AER and 2 year down from 4.75% AER to 4.2% AER.It appears that Cumberland are honouring the rate for those who had specifically arranged a telephone appointment to open this account prior to its closure. Perhaps others can confirm this(edited as Cumberland are being very reasonable and honouring the rate, I shouldn't have assumed they wouldn't)
When booking the appointment I had mentioned in the notes the account I wanted to open and this was the starting point of our conversation "I can see from the notes you wanted to open the five year ISA" to which I replied "yes". We then went through all the details, pre-filled the application forms with those and they sent the application and ISA transfer forms for me to sign and return via their secure message portal. In comparison to their glacial appointment booking process, the account opening process was pretty slick actually.
Whether me mentioning the account I wanted in the notes made a difference or not I can't say but in my case they honoured the rate and account on offer when the appointment was booked.0 -
That was short lived. Just sat down to do a transfer and it now shows 4.11%.savit4l8er said:Virgin are back with a 2 yr fix @ 4.22% (up from 3.5 % I think it was last). They have only had the 2 year over recent days but have now launched a 1 year @ 3.61% as well. Transfers in from elsewhere seem quick, 3 days in my experience. However, there have been delays and problems with their response to messages as reported by posters on here.1 -
No, not same day. Maybe I was slightly misleading by using the word "opening" rather than "applying." The telephone appointment is like filing out a paper application form that once completed you download, sign and send it back to them. Someone then has to manually process it to put onto their systems. With that in mind I didn't expect it to be up and running until next week at the earliest.bristolleedsfan said:

Personally the lack of account number/sort code doesn't affect me as I'm only transferring existing ISA's but I can see to those who need them to fund the account the sooner they're received the better.
I'll keep an eye on this and update when I receive those details.1 -
Did fixed rate term and interest start paying from day you funded it, did you get certificate by post ?rawy said:
Yes got application form emailed to me after appointment, printed out, signed & returned via email this afternoon. Got a txt message late afternoon with my account number for transfer, informing me I have 10 days to fund.bristolleedsfan said:

You can only open one with a face to face or telephone appointment. And they don't have any appointments available until around 20th December and that's a telephone appointment. And then even though the branch was virtually empty they don't have any face to face appointments available at all at any time. And if the accounts above are gone at that time you don't get these rates even if you specify which account you are interested in.So consider this misleading advertising by the Cumberland.

Thanks for info, was there any particular reason you did not fund by faster payments when they gave you account numbers by text.rawy said:

You got your account number by text same afternoon as you sent then signed forms by secure message, I sent my signed form by secure message before 11am on thursday, today at 11.14 am I had this reply ( Sadly not heard anymore since)"I will be looking to get this opened for you today 😊 You should receive an email with the account number on it so you can transfer those funds over! I am so sorry but I forgot one piece of paperwork, you don’t need to rush it back to me, it’s just something to sign to say you agree to the five year terms and conditions and understand that the money is locked in for the allotted time"

It certainly was, 4.22 down to 4.11, they must have it down to a fine art.kipsterno1 said:

Maybe I have answered my own question, what should have been the most exciting part of account opening process, icing on the cake. all the give is account number, no funding account numbersbristolleedsfan said:

Didn't trust funding by FP as email only had half of info & text was quite generic, plus funds coming from Santander who have a habit of blocking payments. Also when asked about processing payments they said they do this manually & there is no way to see the balance online.bristolleedsfan said:

Was easier to wait for letter & passbook to do it old school with a counter cheque from Santander. As I know they have it showing in passbook & saw showing on their terminal in branch.
Interestingly they didn't use any secure messaging with me. There is a bit of amateurism with regards to the whole process.
Cheers

Back in mid November, I opened the latest Tescobank Instant Access Cash ISA paying 2.25%, up from 2.15% on the previous issue. That rate remains today for new applications. But I have only just noticed that they have increased the rate on mine to 2.40%. Not sure when in the last few weeks this happened, but I don't recall them ever increasing rates on existing issues before. I have always had to apply for the latest issue to get the higher rate.
