Seems the 2.5% TESCO ISA has escaped our attention so far.
    http://www.tescobank.com/personal/finance/savings/isa-accounts/cash-isa/instant-access-isa.html

    It's instant access, 2% variable + 0.5% bonus for 12 months, min deposit £1. Transfers-in allowed.

I tried to open a Tesco ISA but it seems they can't verify my identity even though I have lived in the same house for over 30 years and have a Tesco card.
  • Can anyone answer a quick question about a Virgin Money Online E-ISA? I have one of these - originally opened with Northern Rock and automatically moved to Virgin when they took over NR - and it currently has an interest rate of 3.05%.

Virgin no longer offer an ISA with this rate, the current equivalent product having a rate of only 2%. Does anyone know if they will roll over my ISA into the next tax year with the higher rate, or will they convert it into the new, lower-rate product?

If the latter, I will start to look for alternatives.

They will send you a letter approx 3 weeks before it matures with various options.

As an existing customer the rate will probably be .20% above the current 2% rate

If you do not respond they put your ISA in their access ISA which I believe is the 2% rate you are talking about.

Virgin's fixed rate ISAs are now 2.2% for one year and 2.6% for 3 years. If you don't reply to the letter they put you into their Access ISA which pays 0.75%!

That must be a ISA that isn't advertised then as according to Virgins
website their easy access rate is 2%

Well, I have their letter in front of me dated January 2013 and it says "unless we hear from you your ISA will automatically become an Access ISA. See the enclosed Key product information sheet for more on this account." The Key Product sheet says the Access ISA is 0.75%.

As the rates are quite bad either way, I am transferring out.

The Britannia ISA rates have been slashed and need removing from the charts. One year fixed now 1.8% (2.1% with current account), two year fixed 2.05% (with current account 2.35%).

Beverley Building Society is reducing its interest rate from 3% to 2.5% on balances of £35,000 and above (effective 1st Feb).

The rates remain unchanged for lower amounts (for details see Kazza's post on 1st page).
