To be honest it wouldn't have occurred to me to redesignate anything - I applied for the reward account. Why would they set me up with something different?

Hope it's not wrong... will also have to check O/H's. The halifax banking login causes me to slightly lose the will to live :(

The Reward current account is separate from the ISA.

To get the 3/3.2% ISA, just put your account details in to https://www.halifax.co.uk/isaupgrade.

It may take a few weeks before the higher rate shows up on internet banking, but you'll still be earning the higher rate from the date that you fill in the online form.

rb10 and I seem to be assuming different things from your query.

I am assuming that you have recently opened the Halifax ISA Direct Reward 4, either to simply accept previous tax year's/years' Cash ISA transfer(s) or to accept the current tax year's subscriptions plus a transfer and are concerned that it appears to have been opened as an incorrect ISA account.

rb10 appears to assume that you have held the ISA for some time and are trying to get it redesignated to an ISA Direct Reward 4.

Perhaps you could clarify which interpretation (if either) is correct?

Principality have now withdrawn their 3 year fixed ISA which gave 3.22% and replaced it with a new issue offering 3.70% (not too sure if it will still make it into the best available list with that rate!)

Kazza - tried to PM you this info, but the system stated your ibox was full ;)

    • Halifax Fixed Rate ISA - 3.65%
      Minimum deposit: £500.
Notes: Fixed for two years from date of account opening.
........... Unless you have already opened (note the term opened and not contributed this year's funds) an ISA with them this year. I have a fix maturing shortly which I want to transfer and it has taken them a week and a half to let me know they don't want my money. Nowhere in the t&c's does it mention this so I will have to phone them tomorrow. Does this go down as yet another incompetent bank, should have spotted the warning signs when they cocked opening up the first account.

Took 30 minutes on the phone to get the account open, they said that the system automatically kicks out any requests for this ISA if you have opened another this year, be warned !!

That certainly did not used to be the case. It is possible that this is a Lloyds TSB policy that has transferred across to Halifax as well.

Hi everyone! Back from holiday and lots of updates to the first post to do, which I've now done.

Barnsley Building Society and Chelsea Building Society have both launched one year fixed rate ISAs, paying 3.30%. Northern Rock and Norwich & Peterborough Building Society have also launched one year fixed ISAs paying 3.20% and 3.05% respectively.

Cheshire, Derbyshire and Dunfermline building Societies have all launched two year fixed rate ISAs paying 3.60%. Northern Rock's recently launched two year fixed rate ISA is just behind on 3.55%.

Cheltenham & Gloucester, Barnsley, Yorkshire and Skipton Building Societies have also launched two year fixed rate ISAs, paying 3.50% and 3.40% each respectively.

Moving on to three year fixed rate ISAs, Northern Rock have launched an offering, paying 4.26%.

Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank have each launched a five year fixed rate ISA, paying 4.50%.

Not much happening on the variable rate ISA front. Next update midweek.
    Please call me 'Kazza'.
