Just to check , with the M&S 3 year fix at 4% ,can you transfer out into another ISA before maturity ?
The t&c's say they will make payment by cheque or into your bank \building society account ... I presume current account .... will the money lose it's ISA wrapper ?
Yes you can transfer. I got this in writing from them:-
Thank you for your email.
I can confirm that we do accept transfers in from other providers and this does not affect your current subscription allowance. You are also able to transfer a Fixed Rate Cash ISA to another provider at any time. Please note that if the transfer is to be made before the maturity date of the holding, a standard penalty will apply. For the 3 Year Fixed Rate Cash ISA, this charge is £100. Once the holding has matured, the funds can be moved with no charge.0 -
I've looked at all the suggestions in the ISA article but can't find any that would suit my requirements. I have about £3K to transfer, so less than the £9 needed for A&L and Santander, but I also want it to be accessible online otherwise I know that I won't get round to transferring to a better deal when the current one runs out. So what's left out there that will
- allow transfers
- access online
- for transfers around £3K0 -

Nationwide (2.75%) if you have any Nationwide account that has a card?
First Direct (2.75%) if you have a First Direct current account?
Otherwise, Halifax (2.6%).0 -
Thansk rb10. Actually having now checked all my accounts it turns out that the £3K I thought I had was in a normal savings account rather than ISAS (doh!) so that's going into a new A&L ISA. I now have just £90 and £350 in two separate old ISAs. Is it worth transferring that anywhere when it's just a small amount? What happens if I just withdraw that as cash and put it into the A&L ISA instead?0

I don't understand your "accessible online" point. You can never transfer out by contacting your existing ISA provider online, so choosing one with online access is rather pointless, surely?
Nothing "happens" if you lose the ISA status on the £440. It only matters if you would use up your 2009/10 ISA allowance anyway.0 -
You can see from this that the Clydesdale ISA is actually a reasonable product at all maturities from 12 months onwards, e.g. returning over 2.5% even after just one year, and beating all the available 2-year fixes and all the 3-year fixes except Nationwide. It also beats all the 4-year fixes and is, of course, the best 5-year fix. Not bad for a product that supposedly locks you in for 5 years.0

Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank Isa you can add your 2010/11 deposit to the fixed rate account but only till 30th April 2010.0

Eventually got them to pull out their thumbs......except as of now theyve only pulled them out of their Scottish arrises.......
Clydesdale says
(vii) For the Cash ISA Issue 1 and Issue 2, interest is calculated daily on the cleared balance in the Cash Account on that day and is credited to the Cash Account at Maturity, or on account closure. For the Cash ISA Issue 3, interest is calculated daily on the cleared balance in the Cash Account on that day and is credited to the Cash Account annually and at Maturity, or on account closure.
Yorkshire says
(vii) Interest is calculated daily on the cleared balance in the Cash Account on that day and is credited to the Cash Account at Maturity, or on account closure.
....so go with Clydesdale and you'll be fine.

Kazza - shouldn't the First Direct Regular Saver ISA paying 7.00% be added to the bottom of your list?
Sounds bizarre me suggesting this on the same day Im requesting a transfer of my First Direct ISA to Clydesdale!!!
So beware of First Direct - great rates for new customers and new accounts, but rubbish rates when your one year or whatever is up.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
