No, it is available as a mini cash ISA or as a TESSA Only ISA for transferring existing TESSA Only ISAs. It allows transfers in of existing mini cash ISA savings from other providers as well as transfers in from TESSA Only ISAs.

Yes, for a 1 year fixed rate ISA it is the best rate available. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
I would like to open the A&L ISA for 2007/08. I have already got an ISA in place for 2007/06.
The A&L advisor advised me to open the account now and fund in 2007/08 in case the offer is withdrawn.
Is this OK as long as I fund the ISA in the new tax year?Dagobert0 -

Yes, you can open the ISA before the start of the new tax year, but you must ensure that it isn't funded until after April 5th 2007. When opening it ensure that the advisor selects the 2007/08 tax year. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
Hi Kazza, I have a couple of questions!
I have an Abbey postal ISA that is going to be 3 years old at the end of this tax year.
1. Would you recommend I keep the content there because it is eligible for the 5.75%
2. Should I open a new Barclays TB ISA for my new allowance?
3. Or would you recommend something better e.g. Northern Rock?
Many thanks,

If the balance in your Abbey ISA is at least £9,000 then the Direct ISA paying 5.75% is a good option to consider, as it has a better interest rate than the Postal ISA. Abbey should be able to transfer your Postal ISA balance into the Direct ISA and as it would be an internal transfer it should be instant without loss of interest.Nick_A wrote:2. The Barclays offering is a good option for a new ISA for 2007/08 at 6.50% and is MSE Martin Lewis' top pick. However, there are a number of other options that are also worth considering like NS&I 5.80% and ING Direct 6.00% AER.Nick_A wrote:3. Or would you recommend something better e.g. Northern Rock?
I think there are better 'new money' ISAs out there than the Northern Rock fixed ISA - even though it pays 6.01%. Barclays 6.50% for example and if BOE base rate increases again NS&I's rate will be 6.05%. I prefer to think of the Northern Rock offering as a good ISA for 'transfers in' - provided BOE base rate doesn't rise by more than 0.25% over the next year. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

Yes, you can. However, if you're contributing to your ISA monthly via a standing order (or direct debit) you must cancel it. If a SO or DD payment is made to your ISA after April 5th 2007, you will not be allowed to open a fresh isa with another provider for the tax year beginning April 6th 2007 (2007/08). Of course, if this happened a saver could transfer their existing ISA savings to another provider that accepts transfers in - but they wouldn't be allowed to open 'new money' ISAs, like Barclays 6.50% or ING 6.00%.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

No, there is still time. Complete the online application, selecting the tax year 2006/07 and then print it out. Ensure that you take the form, ID and a cheque along to the branch. Please call me 'Kazza'.0
