I see people walking around in hoodies and trainers and if they're not 'obviously' chavvy then I just assume that they've given up and don't care how they look because they're comfy, which is so sad. The only trainers I wear when I'm not out walking/jogging (pah! More like trying to jog whilst shuffling along and wheezing!) are Rocket Dog pumps or Converse, and they're my 'slobby' shoes.
You can be warm and comfortable without resorting to sports wear, and you'll look a heck of a lot more respectableWhen I fly I wear little pumps (I take big fluffy socks to wear on the plane to keep my feet warm), a cardigan and a pashmina.
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I'm really surprised at all this, I actually DON'T much care how I look when I'm doing the shopping, and do put comfort first. It's a completely different story for a night out though, even popping into the local (old man's pub!!
) for a quick one I'll make a little bit of effort.
I really don't take a lot of notice of people who make assumptions about people based on the way they dress anyway, but I'm not going into all that again:D:D0 -
I hear you on the trainers thing Cat. I love my trainers, especially if you have knee and ankle problems. Unfortunately my days of walking any distance in heels is a no no. Can't even wear em a full evening at the pub, they end up under the table and I walk home bare foot4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Nothing against anyone wearing trainers, However out of personal preference I don't own a pair - However in my job (I work as a taxi escort for disabled children) you can't be walking around in big heels, I just wear my flat boots.
I would probably wear the big hoody just to embarrass him though, hah. x0 -
Ah, interesting thread! Here's my 2p-worth:
I wear mostly skirts and dresses no matter what the occasion, so I always travel in a maxi dress and Birkenstocks, with a pashmina for warmth (pashminas are a godsend). If it's long haul, I usually bring a pair of thick socks in case the plane is freeeezing - I can't sleep with cold feet.
I do own sports gear, but only for actually doing sports. I wouldn't ever go out the door in a tracksuit or sports shoes at any other time. Ever. And don't even get me started on velour tracksuits!!
Oh and I am 100% with the sock-haters! I hate wearing them! I like comfy shoes (only do heels for special occasions) - wedges, flip flops, Birkies and tan coloured flat sandals. All quite chic imho!
To those who can walk 2-3 miles in heels - RESPECT. I will never be able to do that. :rotfl:
Trainers + jeans = BIG FAT NO (obviously unless they're Converse/similar). Skechers and the like are so ugly that they make my eyes water, and Crocs should just be banned. :rotfl:
Oooh, that was quite long actually!
You seldom see Crocs now do you? (Thankfully :rotfl:) I wonder what all the zillions of people who loved them have done with them? People who used to say "they are so comfy" "I have them in several colours" and "I will never stop wearing Crocs."0 -
