Fashion advice from DS - do you agree!

Options
Hi folks,

I am going on holiday in a few weeks and never seem to be at a comfortable temperature when flying.

So, in preparation I decided to buy a zip up hoodie thinking I can just take it off/put in on really easily and don't have to worry about messing up my hair/make-up with a pull-on style top.

I headed off to Sports Direct after work today and bought a pink/red coloured Lonsdale hoodie in their perma-sale for about £12.

When I arrived home, 17yo DS son started laughing and told me it was the 'chavviest' of 'chav' brands:rotfl: and he couldn't believe I had bought it!

I'm not even 40 years old and was planning on wearing it with jeans so will that be okay?

Lonsdale is a bit naff. If it's just for holiday though, I don't think it matters much.

I would probably laugh if my mum did the same but really - anyone else I wouldn't bat an eyelid especially for travelling!
  • When I fly, it's always longhaul so whatever is comfortable is key! Personally, I'd choose a cardigan over a hoodie - same convenience, without the perceived "chav" element. But I don't think it's a big deal, I don't take any notice of what others are wearing on the plane.

I'd refuse to sit near my mother! :p

I bought a big scarf for flying, to cover my arms or to hide my face, its quite multi purpose! You can ask for the temperature to be raised if you feel cold too.

I wouldn't have a clue about labels. My hoodies are either plain, or band ones :) If you like it, wear it, and to hell with what people on a plane might (but more likely won't!) think :)

Oh dear, that'll teach me! I'll fold it up into my hand luggage and use it if I get desperate.

Ah- its a bit more expensive but go to Gap! They have a sale on at the moment as well. Not only are they great quality (in general) but your son will probably find them far more suitable and less "chavvy"!

Hoodies matter when you wear then with a bad attitude, swear, drink and walk with a waddle because your pants are half fallen down -sorry, 'worn' halfway down your thighs (yes, the ladies seem to do this too...) you'll be fine as long as you act normal and not like a chav :)

    Had to chuckle too.

The air-con on planes can be either really cold or far too hot.

I think wearing layers is best. I go for a lightweight top, with a warm cardigan and then I have a large shawl or pashmina in my hand luggage in case it's really chilly. Some airlines do provide lightweight blankets.
