I'm going to park in the local Britannia "managed" Waitrose car-park tomorrow
All the (rather poor) signs say is 3 hours max parking & no return within 3 hours. Nothing about leaving site, even by the side entrance [only sign by the side entrance is the typical "we accept no liability for losses & no trolleys belong this point", So I'm going to leave site and walk the 5 minutes to the city centre to pay in a cheque (and do some Quidco check-ins as a lot of shops have come back on), I will probably be less than 30 minutes.
I wonder if I will get my first parking invoice for breaking an non-existent rule.0 -
Bet you won't get one. I do that all the time in a similar set up in West Sussex (you are allowed to leave the site AIUI at the Store I go to, but you are supposed to only stay for 2 hrs). I only got one fake PCN from Britannia on the single rare occasion when I parked there for 4 hours, shopping for holiday stuff locally before getting food in Waitys.
I think Waitrose tell Britannia not to issue too many fake PCNs.
Also I got no follow-up letters whatsoever, even though the car reg was correct. But I think that was due to the idiot car park employee getting so excited at issuing a fake PCN that they put BOTH CARBON COPIES in the envelope on my windscreen!
:T:TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I actually saw the Britannia bloke walking around yesterday, not looking happy as it was raining.
The signs are pretty useless, there is 2 entrances, 1 side the sign has been "eaten" by an overgrown hedge, the other is positioned badly so if you come in from the garage end you can't see it. In the car-park itself there is probably 2/3 signs "max stay 3 hours, no return within 3 hours" dotted about the place. The only sign warning the driver they are entering a contract with a £40 charge for breaching the contract is on the reverse of the opening times for the post office inside the shop, so it is quite easy to miss it.
A shame I didn't get anything on my windscreen, as I would have had fun with it :rotfl:0 -
In our Waitrose (also looked after by Britannia), the only sign is attached to the wall right next to the entrance door to the supermarket. There are none as you enter the car park, and none elsewhere in the grounds. So you could easily park up , leave site and never see this one small sign. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

The Protection of Freedom Act constantly refers to the creditor which will be the PPC. I wonder if they have a credit licence as one is required when credit is extended. This happens when you are given 28 days to pay their silly charges. Interesting times ahead I think!0

That is a basic misunderstanding of the word "creditor" and, frankly, rubbish
Any one you owe money to is a creditor. If you lend one of your mates £10, they are technically a creditor to you till they pay it back. Look up wikipedia or any on line dictionary.0 -

No wonder people leave this forum with that sort of reply to a tongue in cheek reply! I also strongly suggest you look up the word creditor!0 -

for a "help" forum that is a pretty poor reply, better to say nothing than try and belittle a poster. very sad!!0 -

How about using the definition of creditor provided in the Act itself?I also strongly suggest you look up the word creditor!
“the creditor” means a person who is for the time being entitled to recover unpaid parking charges from the driver of the vehicle0 -

I am well aware of what a creditor is. I could have done that if I was being specific about creditor under the Act. However, suggest you read Surfer's original post in which he stated that you need a credit licence to offer credit and tried linking it to the word "creditor". If it was tongue in cheek, then, given some of the tosh quoted on this forum - no wonder I didn't read it as such.
I made my post in case someone reading the original one from Surfer actually thought it was real and it may hev been something sensible. No wonder people leave this forum with that sort of reply to a tongue in cheek reply! I also strongly suggest you look up the word creditor!
I apologise for taking your post at its face value. I didn't think that the reply was that harsh, but if you took it as such, then apologies again. I do have to say that in comparison with a great number of posts on this particular forum, on a scale of 1 - 10 for insulting posts, it was probably 0.5.for a "help" forum that is a pretty poor reply, better to say nothing than try and belittle a poster. very sad!!
Well I could have said "utter drivel" instead of rubbish, using one of your phrases.0
