New kitten preparation/best food

I never went out to chose most of my cats but I have ended up with all black and white ones (I have 4) I remember reading somewhere years ago that black and white cats are usually the ones left as people favour the 'prettier' cats. I cant remember where I read it but seems a bit like rubbish to me.
When I first got my cats I spent an absolute fortune on toys and they pretty much ignore them! They favour scrunched up paper (especially the front of envelopes with the windows in, My blind cat loves these as she can hear them better)
The only toy I do get them is a £1.99 cat nip mouse from pets at home. Ive had to replace this about 20times as they rip him to shreds and the puppy has decided he likes it too!
I would recommend a scratching post and put it where they mostly eat and sleep as after that is when they do most of their scratching!
I've ordered one, and it better come tomorrow because I don't think my paintwork will last! She ignores the leather chairs, and the walls, and the rug that she can scratch all the live long day as far as I'm concerned, and instead goes for the most recently painted door and its hinges.
The lady at the rescue was telling me that black and white cats, all black cats are the ones that are overlooked the most. I can't understand it - surely people don't believe in that superstitious carp?0 -
Sorry to hear it didn't work out with Honey, but it sounds like you've got a real character in {what's her name?
} and I am sure you'll have many years of fun together!
When did you place your order with Z+? Mine usually take around 3 - 4 business days after ordering to arrive.0 -

I think we're going with Alex, she seems like an Alexandra because she has this weird Russian Royalty look about her, but is hyper and ninja-like too. And I can't abide the name Anastasia.
I placed the order on Saturday, literally just after we made the decision. I paid the extra for ParcelForce because Alex'd be at death's door by the time Yodel delivered it.0 -

Lol! I've found Yodel to be the same in delivering my Z+ parcels as PF used to be - they used to be all delivered by PF for no extra fee, it's only fairly recently they've started to use Yodel. But I know it can vary by areaYou should hopefully get your delivery tomorrow or Thursday. :T
Great name, too0 -

Who knows, I think because some people class them as 'plain' I love my cats though and the one I picked myself (I inherited the others from an uncle who didnt take care of them and one from a 'friend' who asked me to take care of her and never came back for her) I picked because she was the runt of the litter and was asleep in a drawer, lol. I like the 'special' ones!0 -

I just thought I would mention this - that stuff pools moisture at the bottom of trays & some cats (esp kittens) try & do eat it!
It's described as long lasting but the ammonia smell after about a week is horrible & I only used for mine if I was going away for an extended period (like up to a week)- to make life a bit easier for the cat feed/changer (1 litterbox with that in it & other box with `normal' stuff). Often chucking it out after a week because of the pooling & smell - solids need taking out more regularly than that0 -

I lasted two days with it. Couldn't stand the stuff so I took the remaining lot down to the rescue, and went and bought some old fashioned stuff. Much better, despite the dust. Have just ordered some wood-based stuff from Zooplus on special offer which works out even cheaper and the cat's not fussy at all.0 -
Another update - she's got me wrapped around her little claws already. Up at 6am on a Saturday to feed her a third of a tin of Applaws because heaven forbid she wait until a reasonable hour.
We thought we were prepared for the manic kitten stage but NOTHING can prepare you for the manic (maniac?) kitten stage. She's thrown herself off every bit of furniture we've got, and she runs up and down the bloody stairs like a fat bride-to-be desperate to fit into her size 44 wedding marquee. I say she runs down, she doesn't, she throws herself off the top stair and somehow manages to not kill herself when she lands at the bottom.
I should like to voice a little warning about Zooplus/Applaws kitten wet food. Applaws have changed the recipe of their wet kitten food so it is now a complete food, just like their dry, but Zooplus only has old stock, so now I have 96 tins of wet kitten food that is basically for treats only. I only discovered this after finishing the tins I'd bought from P@H and starting on the Zooplus ones - the texture and contents are noticeably different. Unfortunately I'd already undone all the packaging by the time I'd discovered this so I can't send them back.
Saying that she seems to be thriving on the mix of the wet and the complete dry food and the odd bit of meat and fish.
She also had her first injections this week and she was a delight. She wasn't even fazed by the needle or the being at the vets, even if she did try and take a swipe at an enthusiastic labrador that ventured too close to her basket.
And she has so far destroyed every toy that she's been given. Including TWO stick/dangler things. Which she holds in her mouth and then launches around the house, regardless of danger of death. She's going to be the death of me.0 -
Well, personally I do not believe a word of you are saying/writting as you know.. thread not valid without a photo

Kitten food is an unecessary expense (clever fairly recent marketing invention by manufacturers) any good quality cat food is good enough for kittens.0
