  • Seems like a reasonable price for the mini Ipod

you need to open an a/c and add it to to your basket then - a further £10 for delivery.
  • Hi, this is my 1st post on the forum!

Been visiting the site and getting the MSE newletter for ages, but this Big Ipod/MP3 debate is something i'm interested in, so I have a question please:

I would like to transfer all my current CD's on to one device that I can play through my stereo at home, use in the car (if possible) as well as using as a portable like a walkman. Storage size needed would probably be over 20Gb, so I suppose a 30-40Gb would be a good starting point. I would be using a PC rather than a Mac to transfer the data, but may be switching to Mac in the next year or so ....... What would be the best options for me please???? Ipod or another MP3 that has connectability??

    Cheers ... Rick
Have you tried a Freecom Media Player 3 - I've just bought one and all the cds are going! Its a hard disk with a remote control and a/v out so you can connect to your hi-fi (or to your tv if the sound is ok - benefit here is using your tv as a monitor).

An 80gig disk costs £180ish from Aria.

    Cheers

I bought an Ipod shuffle, and I have to say I'm happy with it... 1gb, usb stick type player, does exactly what it says on the tin. Good build quality, excellent in the gym and on my M/Bike, charges direct of a usb port.

~Dislikes... Itunes. Don't like to have to use it, and I dislike that it registers your player with your copy of Itunes, so you can only load songs from that copy. But you can partion it, and use some of your stick as a usb mass storage device.

Hi mate - I am getting mine this weekend. There are two other bits of software you can use instead of iTunes. They have been mentioned elsewhere on this forum (somewhere) and are certainly an alternative.

I've been watching that one for a while. Stock is now expected in early July, it has been slipping from early May, Late May, Not known and now July!

I wouldn't hold your breath as they also have another iPod 4GB in green on their site for significantly more!

but one of the cheapest I've ever seen if it does come in to stock ever!

    Hi All :D

Personally, i can't see what the big deal is with the iPod, i mean it's nice enough, but i think it's been overhyped. I bought myself the 1.5Gb Aiwa 'sports' mp3 player, from Empire Direct for £99.99 (rrp £199.99 -yes i know no-one ever pays recommended retail! ;) ) and it's superbly sturdy for the gym or outdoor pursuits like mine gets forced to do! It comes in a rubber case, has anti-shock protection, is really easy to navigate round and has all the functions you need ie shuffle, favourites, hold etc. and also looks and sounds great, i have recommended it to a couple of friends who are equally happy with it, and if you look here:-

    http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/html/AIW-HZDS2000.htm

you'll see they've dropped the price by another tenner to £89.24  saving a massive £110.75 on the rrp which i reckon is a BARGAIN! So far mine's got wet, been dropped a couple of times, and skidded head first down a muddy bank in my pocket, with no ill effects, so i can't sing its praises enough (if hadn't you already guessed). Hope someone finds this helpful, and if you manage to beat either of these prices, be sure to let us know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

The price of this has now dropped again to

    £49.99

    That is a bargain

also search for it instead of link and it can't find anything.

must have gone out of stock, even though it says it is using the link.

Just ordered the new sony nw-hd5 from amazon. I had given them 3 examples of where I could get it cheaper than the £199.99 they were advertising. It has been changed to £183.99.

Stoneaudio are selling the 30GB for £210 but I decided 20GB would be plenty!
