    Hi All :D

Thought i'd add my two pennies worth! Have just had the dubious pleasure of hunting round to find my sisters boyfriend a 4Gb iPod Mini; the best price i could find was here:-

    https://securehost5.zen.co.uk/foneplanet/default.asp?showpage=productinfo.asp&pid=1000047

They delivered quickly and were helpful over the phone when it turned out they didn't accept her Visa Electron card.

Personally, i can't see what the big deal is with the iPod, i mean it's nice enough, but i think it's been overhyped. I bought myself the 1.5Gb Aiwa 'sports' mp3 player, from Empire Direct for £99.99 (rrp £199.99 -yes i know no-one ever pays recommended retail! ;) ) and it's superbly sturdy for the gym or outdoor pursuits like mine gets forced to do! It comes in a rubber case, has anti-shock protection, is really easy to navigate round and has all the functions you need ie shuffle, favourites, hold etc. and also looks and sounds great, i have recommended it to a couple of friends who are equally happy with it, and if you look here:-

    http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/html/AIW-HZDS2000.htm

you'll see they've dropped the price by another tenner to £89.24  saving a massive £110.75 on the rrp which i reckon is a BARGAIN! So far mine's got wet, been dropped a couple of times, and skidded head first down a muddy bank in my pocket, with no ill effects, so i can't sing its praises enough (if hadn't you already guessed). Hope someone finds this helpful, and if you manage to beat either of these prices, be sure to let us know.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Trying to find some cheap speakers for ipods i came across this site:

    http://www.ipodaccessories.co.uk/index.php

    30gb ipod photo = £130 (i'm sure that can't be right!!).
    40gb ipod photo = £200 (unbelievably cheap!).
60gb ipod photo = £294 (same as anywhere else)

anyone ordered anything from here? i can't see how they can sell the 30 and 40gb versions that cheaply...

The site is a scam, it just links to items on Amazon with their referral link so they get some cashback...

The prices are incorrect too ;)
    Prices subject to change

    LOL :D

Please can you let us know when it arrives if it includes docking station etc. Thanks

Just to say that my 40GB Ipod photo ordered from Boots has arrived today. It has all the accessories that I had hoped and which I believe make this better value than the 30GB version.

I had a Sony HDD NW1 20GB - very stylish, but hard disk crashed, twice!
Just had a refund under the g'tee & bought a Creative Zen Touch 20GB - bigger & heavier than the Sony, but is sooooo much better - recommended!
    I love a nice juicy "kebab"... ;)

I have a 256mb MPman ( product no. FUB256 i think) which i got off ebay for about £35, its great for the gym as its tiny, holds about 80 songs but I find it too limited for holidays

Personally I'd not get an iPod. I currently have one, but if I were to buy again I'd get something else. The battery life is poor, and I don't need the 40gb of storage for the price it costs. I have a computer at home with all my mp3's on, and only need 2-3gb's worth when I'm out an about.

Ideally I'd like to sell my iPod and get a static flash-based player. One where you can add/remove memory cards from it. Hard drive based mp3 players are ok, but you can't really jog with them (too big and you may damage the hard drive) and they have a limited life span.

What I'd like in an mp3 players is:
    - 1-2gb storage (flash based)
    - Replaceable storage (ie add/removing memory cards)
    - Long battery life
    - USB Pen like interface, where you plug it in to the computer and it pops up as a removeable drive. Down with iTunes!

I bought an Ipod shuffle, and I have to say I'm happy with it... 1gb, usb stick type player, does exactly what it says on the tin. Good build quality, excellent in the gym and on my M/Bike, charges direct of a usb port.

~Dislikes... Itunes. Don't like to have to use it, and I dislike that it registers your player with your copy of Itunes, so you can only load songs from that copy. But you can partion it, and use some of your stick as a usb mass storage device.
All of this might just be an elaborate simulation running inside a little device, sitting on someone's table.
