Have you tried this kind of hook? LINK

Thanks Blossom, but the link didn't work. I have tried every known hook known to man and none work...I do need a drill but LL would not be too happy. But I have decided to get rid of the pics I can't hang up, it's made my mind up really, and I am using just a few pix now on hooks that are already there. It actually looks better.

Not had a declutter day today as had to visit DD and then did some paid work, and I'm now tired and ratty and feeling despondent. DD wanted one of the stools so I let her but didn't show her my other decluttered stuff as she would say yes to that too.
Did buy a plant pot again and 3 vintage glasses in plastic holders, :o for a £1 at the recycling centre. They are small and pretty colours.

Not sure who posted about Jane Eyre now, but even I think 3 copies is excessive. :D I have all of Jane Austen's novels in one large paperback, and as she is my guilty pleasure and the only books I re-read, I am keeping it. Did get rid of Dickens' books even ones my father loved as I cannot get to grips with his work. I know he had to make them long because they were initially for the news paper stories, but someone needs to edit them! :p

I am a perfectionist too; my theory is if you don't do anything then you can't be criticised for not being perfect. I am somewhat better and am trying to learn to be "good enough". Not sure why I am like this...:o

Cat, they do require a lot of concentration, the writing is such you have to read every word. It's so perfect as far as I am concerned. I am a total fan of Austen and watch (and criticise) films and series of her work. Anything really. Except the zombies...:D

This talk about perfectionism is really interesting. My computer desk is usually, well, like an absolute bombsite with all manner of carp completely covering it. A couple of days ago I finally tidied it - and I sit here constantly moving the speakers, coaster, ashtray etc to get everything symmetrical and ultra-neat. Same with things on the kitchen worktops. When I'm like this, I wonder how these things ever drift back to their usual chaotic state, but somehow they always do :/

I know what you mean; when I'm tidy I'm very, very tidy and then I just can't keep it up, so back to chaos, so it's a case of changing my thinking.

I was in someone's house today as part of my job, lots of knick-knacks, plenty of books etc but it was tidy, and organised, even the office. I thought, this is lovely, why can't I be like this. Even when I worked in an office I was a mess, surrounded myself with files, (so much so I often got told off), but my actual work was that of a perfectionist.

My Grandmother used to have a saying, "Look after the corners and the middles will look after themselves." They do too. Now, if only I could remember this!

That's rather like Flylady's kitchen sink thing, Monnagran - very useful! Off to remove the pile of books from the corner opposite the computer right now...

Not heard this quote before but it has now been adopted.

Hopefully have sold a couple of baby things.

    I've been Money Tipped!
So, today is utility room day. Not sure i am brave enough for beore pics, and of course it would be a flawed result anyway, as so much is being kept but moved out for the summer's building works.

I am hoping though to sort a lot. Still not decided what to do with my dad's cleaning stuff. The easy answer is to put them in the barn....but thats just shifting a hoard. I have asked him to stop it, but he soesn't get it.

I'm not a hoarder, though I have a propensity for being lazy and untidy. So - I opened my house as a tiny B&B so I HAVE to be tidy and CLEAN!

Anyway - about books. Recently I had a huge cull, as they were taking up space I needed for a small sitting room. I now have two shelves of keepers and that's it. The library, handily, is next door ...

My answer for books you have and MIGHT read one day - and it's complete heresy, but works so well - read the intro, first paragraph, even first chapter. IF and only IF that first para grabs you, it's got potential - if it doesn't, it never will (old journo trick). THEN, if you're short of time, read the LAST chapter to find out what happened. Job done, book read, discuss with your chums/reading group/lit degree class ..

Saves hours for all those books you REALLY want to read all the way through.

I really liked the 'do the corners and the middles will look after themselves'. SO true.

Have a happy chucking out day, people!
