Once I start a bottle of shampoo or toothpaste or other toiletry, that's when I buy another one. That way I feel happy we won't run out at an inconvenient time.

I must admit I like to have a good store of toilet rolls - I can never remember how how many we use in a week, so I tend to buy a new stock too early. I suppose I'm afraid of running out and having to use newspaper or something! :rotfl:

  • Hi all

Brought a new ironing board yesterday (I know how to live) and the old one was put straight onto freecycle and collected tonight.

Anyone know what to do with old routers? I've just changed phone & t'internet provider? Is it ok to freecycle such things or will beatty want it back? (My contract with them had finished).

Tomorrow's plan A is to have a sort out of my under stairs cupboard, derichard any shoes that I've not worn for a while and see what else needs to go in there.

I have ONE bottle of shampoo, because I barely use it.....I conditioner only wash. I have five bottles of conditioner ( sigh) because my hair likes different things in different conditions. It's like a fussy pet. ;).

The no more buying toiletries thread on health and beauty is really useful for this sort of thing. Like food, I bulk buy what I know works ( like stuff for hair) but .....I have stopped almost all irrational beauty purchases.

I found I was buying stuff because what I really wanted was too expensive. It's funny because I am not much like that about other things. Now I am as 'tight' with toiletry spends but I will spend a lot when I have saved up.. E.g. A clarisonic brush that gets used almost every day.

Oh lovely. I shall watch with interest - it'll help motivate a post-Xmas declutter.

  • Morning all!

    [limps in, wincing at sunlight]

Was at a gig last night.

Feeling a little delicate this morning.

I have to get some loo rolls, as it happens. Ta v much for there reminder; I usually get a nine pack if it is on special. That lasts quite some time here. Mind you, I also need bread and probably milk if I'm to have any breakfast, so I had probably get myself into gear soon.

Thanks for the heads up, I do like a good Hoarding programme! :T

BTW, I'm sure it'll be be ok to freecycle your old router. I can't see BT wanting it back. It'll probably cost them more than it's worth to collect old techie bits.

Actually, that's reminded me, I've got at least two old routers in my loft, so I must get them out of the house in the new year

And why are you waiting until the New Year, lol.

You could have a chuck 10 items in the 10 days before Xmas challenge.

I stopped myself from buying some "perfect" storage from the recycling shop. I looked at some pine shelving, thought, "that will be perfect..." Then "perfect for what?" Then visualised it in the place I thought would be perfect, saw it languishing there, dusty and forlorn because I was never going to get aorund to painting it, and also it would end up mouldy because of the damp, and I would feel I had to fill it with stuff to justify having it...so I walked away. It tugged until I got out the door, but when I got home I was so relieved.
