  • Just popped in to say 'Hi' and 'Keep up the good work!'

No decluttering here but have just discovered a programme called Make Do and Mend on 4OD. The nice thing is that they are helping actual people rather than the glamourous ones. The recipes seem sensible and the DIY is interesting. There are also reams of episodes, so I'm watching them quite often.

Hope it's of interest to someone.

That's an interesting way to phrase it. I am an actual person but people who visit say "wow" and think my house is quite glamourous... It's different to most houses I visit because we have what we want and it's not the usual style but we're not fancy people.
  • Oh I am RAGING. I am in such a vile mood. My manager came to do a visit this morning and shes SO unprofessional its untrue. She said it wasnt a development visit (when they make notes and give feedback) it was just a "visit" (friendly, like). She then proceeded to immediately point out something I needed to change in a really rubbish manner but then backtrack and say, but its not a visit so we wont talk about any "recommendations". I immediately burst into tears (GROAN) as I have PMT, have no husband all week and packed one kid off to school with a broken painful tooth, one with hurty ears and already feel like Ive had enough of this week and its only blOO*y Monday.
I then got a credit card statement and am FURIOUS with self as it is WAY higher than I expected. On a good note it is 0% for 22months so I am confident about clearing it but need to take it out of my purse and stop using it especially with Christmas just around the corner. It has given me and ebay kick up the butt, a non spend week kick up the butt, so tomorrow is dedicated to ebay. Im going to go to the gym in the morning and then spend the afternoon listing- 5 day - to end on Sunday. Im also going to venture over to the debt free wannabe boards and join a few challenges there to get back in the zone.
Im also going to shut down my 3 other credit card accounts- all £0 balance so no poit having them at all. Just have them in a hoarding security blanket manner but Id much rather just have the one, well managed one than 3 with potentially ruinous interest rates. Will start by grabbing scissors and wiping out their very existance now :)
Then have a play with my bank accounts and try and do a bit of shuffling for the xmas fund. I also have two groaning full freezers and a larder full of hoarded food so Im not buying aything except bread milk and fruit and veg (at the market on a sunday cheap) until the end of the month.
    AND BREATHE

Ps JO JO are you ok? Youve been very quiet and ive been thinking about you and your meds x

Hope you are feeling more relaxed now idris.

Can your freeze the int free credit card into a block of ice in the freezer so it is there if you're desperate but not easily available for shopping?

Sounds like a good plan with the dehoarding the rest of the freezer.

    Idris,

I guess all you can do is try and look at the positives here. You know what your manager will be looking to see on the next 'unfriendly' visit and you can impress her with the eradication of said issue.
  • Hello Fellow De-Richarders,

Had a bit of a moment on Friday, had invited all the Mommies round for a night off from their babies as mine and my DH were away for the night, all invited decided to stay over so I had a mad panic to clear the bed in the room of doom! Lovely evening though full of good chat, food and wine.

I now have looming towers of kibble which need further sorting in the room of doom, but I can see the floor and the bed was slept in :T

It makes me feel better. Also I have sold 7 items on E-Bay over the last few weeks and have 7 more items listed. I am slowly adding all the viable E-bay stuff on and just keep re-listing it until it sells, this seems to be a good ploy.

I think I'm inspiring DH as he cleared the top our our wardrobe (totally unprompted) as this has been winding me up for ages.

I sorted all the quilts and they are vacuum packed and stored in the airing cupboard (into which DH is now fitting new/extra shelving :T) I have unstable piles of linen in there, all of which is used. I cleared the linen out when we had the boiler replaced.

I have started listing all the baby stuff on E-bay, this has been a bit of a wrench as it means I've accepted that we're definitely not trying for any more, but also a bit of a relief because we've made the decision and organised ourselves and I can move on. I've got one bag of sentimental baby clothes vacuum packed for the loft (which is still not boarded!) Thanks for all the advice on this one.

I'm going to list the larger baby items locally as I won't be able to post and it will have to be buyer collect. Although saying that I sold a baby clothes bundle on E-Bay with large postage. 2 potties went to my new nephews.

I've managed to keep on top of the washing for a week, but have excess linen today due to the weekends Pyjama party :rotfl:

And DD was sick on our bed yesterday.:( She felt much better straight afterwards though :T Forced me to wash our bed linen which was a good thing :o DDs gets washed weekly.

OOh and on an MSE note, I got my hair cut and coloured for free at the weekend, by my lovely SIL for my birthday :T :T :T

  • Carpy day got worse. :( me me post imminent so feel free to skim if you want
Took boy to the dentist with his crumbled tooth and they had to take it out :( 2 big injections for him. I really dont like the dentist AT ALL and so sat there snivelling whilst trying not to let him see I was upset.
HOWEVER on the way home i took him to the second hand game shop to get him an xbox game for being soooo brave and I went past the co-op and thought "ooh what do I need to pop in there and get?" and I reminded myself NOTHING :) *big fat smug smilie* I walked past 2 greengrocers and 2 supermarkets and didnt even go in! I am so proud of myself and cant wait until tomorrows day of sorting! Gym, Ebay, Freezer Inventory and a spot of light bathroom painting and not a spend in sight.

Great advice about the CC Whitewing and thanks Lostinrates for boss sympathy. I dont dislike her and am happy to take on board her advice it just wasnt great today!! Im a bit fragile this week.

Well, I don't think that was a miserable 'me' post at all. I don't mind the dentist (they can do any thing to my mouth so far as i care I just cringe at the bills).

Instead I read the woman who having suffered hthe trauma of a kids rumbling tooth, which would give even me the collywobbles, AND hormonal drive to shop walked past the opportunity to comfort shop. I read SUCCeSS. :). ;)
  • Lostinrates thank you so much! I am feeling a bit "Eeyore" not helped by needing to go back to work in an hour or so and feeling like my last shred of confidence in my ability at work was stripped this morning. I don't know if anyones worked out what I do (I think I said many posts ago) but it involves standing up and taking "classes" of 30 ish people so you need a lot of confidence! It doesnt normally bother me in the slightest but today I just feel a bit trampled on!

Also stupid husband is away working so I cant offload on him, and my kids stuff workload has doubled this week!! Not to mention the raging PMT!!

Oh and if anyones interested after my self searchig revelations about my spending habits I have started a debt free wannabe diary to try and keep my hoarding to here, not my related spending. Please feel free to subscribe

I think I remember what you do, and I can imagine it requires you to be very encouraging when you sometimes must feel frustrated.

I can empathise ENTIRELY with the husband thing. Mine is away every week mon to fri and his family are all academics, though he is not. For what it's worth we are also in the sw, so I have often wondered if you are one of my nearer cities.

We, no that's not true, DH :o actually made a small amount of progress this weekend. A big bin bag full of carp departed and the back landing while still crowded is at least not like something from a scene of a burglary or scene of abandonment.

I am meant to be tidying my side of the bedroom tonight, but I am making slow progress tonight (not serious, but mild health restriction tonight) so just sorting or picking up ten things at a time then having a break.
