Hoarding...not just on TV

So last night I went through the back room and kitchen and today I'm getting rid of
* a variety of new and part used A4 pads of paper (narrow ruled lined, blank and graph) - if they can't be sold, then the paper could be used by the charity itself - I've still got different papers coming out of my ears
*a set of three cardboard drawers that sat under the printer on my desk
*two of the three calculators in the drawers (still leaves me with a small FSS logo'd one for bank account calculations and a modern scientific one for GCSE Maths) - Yep, I've just realised that's four calculators in total
*two collapsible storage crates
*one hot water bottle (still leaves me with one)
*one DVD - The Art of Crochet - Getting Starting
*two cds - The Back to Black tribute cover from Q and Fyfe Dangerfield
The router sat on the desk beside the printer with the drawers creating extra surface so the two could fit on. I've put holes in the side of the desk, put in screws and used the hanger holes in the router case to hang it (cables and all) off the side of the desk.
It already looks a little smarter.....
I like this thread. Even if you aren't getting much clutter out, it looks we're becoming more mindful of our surroundings and are thinking about the whats, whys and wherefores of our hoarding habits. It looks like there's less clutter going in.
EDIT : And one Ed Hardy cross stitch pattern book. Yep. Not kidding. Really. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Hot water bottle decluttering? One is never enough for me I am afraid. I would be happier with four or five (plus the cats).
I sometimes have two on the sofa with me!0 -
So I managed to do a walk today- 5.5km with mother in law, dog and youngest son (7) in tow. Was a beautiful day and really quietened the monkeys. I then came back and cooked a roast for two friends and their son who came up. I sorted work stuff in between that ( once I started I realised there was a lot less to do than I anticipated) so I have had some red wine, lit the fire and I'm just about to throw the smalls in the bath and bed ( tired after sleepovers) then I will have a bath myself and settle down for some telly. It's funny as I used to get really anxious whem DH went away, now I just look forward to the peace and quiet and me time LOL. I guess that's what 4 kids and being together for years does to you!
I just de richarded a bag I got at the jumble yesterday- it's a quite posh changing bag and I had every intention of sticking it on eBay but friend that came round is pregnant and it's a nice changing bag ( most are naff and/or twee) so I passed it on to her. I've since looked on eBay and they go for LOADS (boo) BUT I love my friend and it's an ace bag and it's something else to not have to put on eBay ( and good karma Lol)Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Dead shopping trolley and expired curtain rail straight to the communal bin today.
Caught DH secretly rescuing the toggle on shopping trolley bag. I asked him why, as he already had a stash of rescued ones that are unused...but we did laugh a lot... (and he still kept it).
Yes LIR - you can't beat a great lodger/landlady relationship: I've had many, but the selection process is rather stressful:eek:I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Nope. One foot warmer's enough. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I am happy because DS' parents evening went very well recently and I feel that we are beginning to see a sensible and talented young man emerging. I can't believe what a relief that is.
Had an interesting chat with some new people I met this morning.
I was thinking that I'm not doing much decluttering recently. However, I am surrounded by bits of paper that I am getting ready to pass to the accountant so actually I am - it is just part of daily life now. DH went to the recycling centre yesterday - once upon a time I would have posted that on the day, lol.
Today has been pretty much a work day but quite relaxed so I don't feel that I have missed out on a weekend.
I am looking forward to being able to put up Xmas decorations next month. Artificial tree goes up on 1st Dec - can't wait.
My relative got more money than expected on the jewellery that was auctioned, which has boosted her no end.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Hey strangers I have been away for a bit! I am as bad as ever with the hoarding
. And I just sit in the house and ignore it instead of doing stuff about it. More and more seems to be coming into the house and its mostly all ME atm, not the mother in law who is bringing it all in
. The worst thing is that I don't even bring in stuff we need its just pretty things I like, I'm like a magpie or have some mad feeling inside that makes me 'need' all this stuff I don't really
. I read today that any impossible task can be broken down into possibilities, so we may be able to help you see that

Cats or hot water bottles? Or both0 -
Cats or hot water bottles? Or both
Both! My two cats would like one each, and they snuggle on one or each side of me usually. We cannot find our electric blanket. And my new pills side effects are worse when I am cold. Hopefully be the end of this week we will have working heating :T.
But seriously, I would have one on each foot, or top and sole of feet of i am on my side. one on my back, one on my front and one on m knees or mobile for spot warming quite happily.
While I have lived without heating and never keep a hot house, it doesn't mean I don't feel the cold sadly:o0
