Thanks guys!
Fabulous! Well done!
My sitting room is usually presentable, though..um, looking around now.....um.
I worry when people need the loo here, they have to walk through the spare room of hell (our old house has no corridor upstairs)0 -
How wonderful!
I must do some whisking round the kitchen and bathrooms today, once in back from my class.
Not that there are any visitors, but you never know, eh?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Oh Blossom, that's wonderful! :T:T I can't wait to get that feeling. Very motivating too. Thank you!
Jo-Jo, as Whitewing said, you can make green chutney. I only have green toms on mine so will try making it. I used to compost them because I didn't know you could do that until recently.
I had a weird dream, part spiritual and part weird :rotfl:, I was at a retreat type of place and my engagement ring (which ex has, he said he pawned it... should have the spelling "porned it" in his case, but I digress :rotfl:) , it's a 3 diamond ring, and the end diamond had fallen out. Someone found it and handed the ring to me. At first I was upset, although I did say, Oh the diamonds are bigger than I thought...but then seeing the symbolism of it even in the dream was therapuetic. And I decided to sell it for the gold!
LIR, my bathroom is downstairs and you have to walk through living room, then the kitchen ...last year a friend and her children arrived, I nearly slammed the door in their face but she said, no it's fine...but it wasn't, I wasn't dressed, there was no-where to sit, and I couldn't offer a drink as I was afraid they'd need the loo!0 -
I sat in the lounge yesterday wondering how I would feel if the dresser next to me was empty - I don't know how I'd feel, but I was beginning to see the constant feeling of "oh I must sort out the dresser" as a prop or a safety blanket and could envisage a time when I wouldn't need it.
It's a beautiful antique, but then I imagined having a nice space instead, and didn't feel panickyYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Though able to invite people in,I can't quite imagine being able to do so without feeling slightly embarrassed.
I would also love to have a clean once a fortnight to dust and clean the floors. That would be wonderful. I can keep up with the rest of any necssary housework, but not that.
Well done D&DD for the paperwork!I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

I have been having some flashes of thoughts today, I am sure freed up by the feeling of space (in my brain!)
I think so much of my hoarding is about CHOICES - fear of making the wrong choice - "what if I am wrong" "what if I use that wonderful raw material for something that goes wrong" "what if I regret it once it's gone" "what if the kind donor asks if I am still using it" "what if I decorate 1940s style then wish I could have Victorian accessories" - so I am trying to elect the other choices "choosing to have friends in" "choosing to have space to walk across the room" "choosing to know what's in every drawer" "choosing to give things away" "choosing to only wear my favourite clothes" - the first lot are all "what ifs" and the 2nd lot are all immediate and achievable
I've made plenty of choices in my life, some good (jobs), some bad (exes!), some indifferent (baby names), but at least I made themYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Oh yes, choices, decisions and transitions. Transitions are my hardest. Choices the second.0

Well, I didn't do any whisking. Or anything much else, as I seem to be harbouring the dreaded lurgy and was shattered (no pun intended) after getting back from stained glass class.
So I have decided that a sparkly house can wait a day longer and I've gone to bed. For anybody who knows me in real life, no, I am really not apart to expire, but I feel too tired to sit on the sofa anymore.
And if an unexpected guest turned up here at 6.30am, it would be worse for their health than mine
Oh yes, Blossom - surely someone from the 1940s would be likely to have a couple of things from her mother or grandmother in her possession? I don't think homes are supposed to be film sets or museum pieces, they are places that nurture and shelter us. Very few people of any time have all brand new things all of the time (the ones that do are usually up to their necks in debt and are never happy with what they do have, IMO).
That's the reasoning behind my new house with old colours and 90 year old furniture with new, cello and keyboard, but in order to appreciate the beautiful, we have to give them space.
So what is it that you are considering with your dresser? Is it things on/in it, or is it the whole item that you are thinking about? Maybe if you could say what's on your mind with it, we could help you decide what you want to do?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
aw well done Blossom that must have been such a lovely feeling!
JoJo sorry to hear about the toms its been such a weird year all round hasn't it? I can bring you some red ones thursday if you want? I'm bringing most of the house anyway :rotfl:
Occupational therapy is coming tomorrow to relieve me of DS2's old mattress raiser, bed bathing kit and table :j
He has other 'attachments' now which are working better so more space for us I'm loving this0
