Hoarding...not just on TV

I managed to send off 16 items of clothes. Most in good condition but owned for at least 4 years, some a lot longer. Some I still like and am feeling pangs over but the summer photos for years all look the same except for the chuldren getting bigger! Pangs now, but they are gone and there is nothing I can do. I have plenty now because I bought new. I even charity shopped a couple that I was going to give a friend, but she probably wouldn't have wanted them anyway. They have been in and out of the wardrobe a couple of times as we've never got round to seeing each other and remembering to exchange stuff. She doesn't have a catflap, lol.
I do need to buy new winter clothes and then I will be able to cull virtually everything else, which will please DH because he thinks I need more self-respect when it comes to clothes.
I notice DH has put an old heater in the recycle pile. I am pleased as he is normally very bad with electrical items.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. ithink that is a really relevant statement about having more self respect. i wore trousers and a top in the summer that i didnt like much and when i saw a photo of me in them i looked terribly fat - which i am not.
they are going - and i am going to have a good look at the rest.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I definitely wouldn't have done all the decluttering that I have done without this thread. I have joined other threads before and done some, but this one really makes me think.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I looked at the link. Trouble is, she was writing with the intention of flogging her 'aspirational coffee table' book. And the photos made the stuff look like tacky crap.
One or two things could have been fine - a cushion cover (possibly), a draught excluder, with an old chair. But all of it? It just looked like rubbish and made the place look dirty.
Actually - I've just read the comment posted on the article- 'The room above resembles exactly a 1970's squat'.
*slow cooker with some tinned toms and the last of yesterday's sweetcorn and I'll eat that when I get round to it. I have been invited to a gig tonight at the local, I might drag myself to that, but all in all, I'm not aiming for anything significant today.
Housesitting sounds lovely, to get a change from the everyday and enjoy the chickens - if you haven't already, you must try scrambled egg made with eggs still warm from laying - nothing fancy, just the eggs in a little butter, no milk, water or cream, low heat, stirring gently. It's lovely. You could feel a little deflated when you come back, but steps like the ones who have taken recently will all add up until you can come back and be happy as you open your front door.
My major dilemma at the moment is incredibly shallow and superficial. I've got (or had, the white seems to be making headway) conkery red brown hair naturally. For ages it's been bleached gold blonde (kept the reddish tinge to it) and it's severely overdue for redoing. Do I just repeat as usual, or do I even it up then get a red on the top? Not pillar box, not burgundy, not orange, but proper Rita Hayworth red?
Decisions, decisions......I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Been sorting out my food cupboards and stuff all day so have got rid of a few wrappings where I decanted stuff and thats about it..
Will get going again once the boys go back to school Monday0 -
I haven't been doing much by the way of de-hoarding, although my boxes of craft stuff need going through.
Boxes. There should be only one box maximum. I'll sort through it tomorrow.
Good luck and best wishes to everyone sick or in pain at the minute - it's seems to be a hard world out there right now.
And so - if any of you pay attention to the House Buying, Renting and Selling thread on this forum check out this horror show from The "have a look at this!" thread II

Just checking in to say hello. I am still lurking and read the posts most days. I have been a little disillusioned that i cannot match all your progress you are all doing so well.. i can only report 2 bin bags of clothes and 19 books to the charity shop since the beginning of the month.
However...my real issue is paperwork years of it in boxes, bags, carrier bags etc. I have set my self a little routine of sorting through a small pile whenever i am watching TV and shredding during the ads (which also saves me overheating the shredder). I now have two bin bags of shredding plus the non confidential that goes in normal paper recycling. I must be making progress surely??
Cats seem to be a common theme on here and my neurotic tortie nicknamed the 'demon princess' has been the catalyst (whoops bad pun!) for starting the boxes of paperwork first.. If she comes across a box of any type paper recycling, magazines, box files, even empty cardboard boxes she will wee in them hence paperwork being stuffed in bags and out of her reach.I am working on her neurotic behaviour but need to remove anything that could encourage it and paperwork is it.Trouble is you see so little progress with paperwork..
Any tips on paperwork or neurotic naughty torties gratefully received0
