How often do people who do not hoard do the following:
Need to edit their bedside table contents.
Derichard clothing from wardrobes or drawers
Derichard first aid things
i onow i have more i want to ask.
Not very often, because you tend to look at something, think 'this is broken/I don't like it/doesn't fit' and move it on before it has a chance to build up into a pile of junk. It's less work that way, as you don't really notice it.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Well, i might tidy my bedside table surface ( the draw is a nightmare and i only did it a few weeks ago) and the cupboard bit......beyond me....i cannot bend down to it atm.0 -

I'm not a hoarder but am full of admiration for you all on tho post who are clearing your hoards.
I declutter beside cabinet every month or so. I get little fits of wanting half used things finished and used up and determinedly use things so i can get rid of annoying dregs in tubes / pots/ bottle!
Wardrobe gets done maybe 4-6 times a year - when I loose or gain weight and when the weather turns!
First aid things maybe every couple of months - though the bathroom cupboard gets tidied every month or so. I guess because I don't buy/ keep/ hoard much it doesn't need doing more often as there's not much there to get out of control.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

A lot of what builds up on, say, bedside table is accumulated from when i get something then sit down with it and am too sore (and sometimes too lazy, but usually too sore) to out it back. Some is just because its a convenient clear surface.
Atm...
Radio, lamp (acceptable huh) then, should be elsewhere include.....
Bottle of conditioner, perfume, spray of heat sefence oil, spray for curly hair, coconut oil (i used this yesterday ) pre moisturiser gumph night moisturiser, morning moisturiser, night repair serum, morrocan oil type stuff, face oil type stuff, lash stuff to use last thing at night and pills.
Its a lot of clutter, but i find i cannot stand to moisturise first thing and last thing atm.0 -
That was an interesting question about reviewing, lir. The tidy ones amongst us do it a lot more regularly than I had expected. I still obviously have some way to go.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

See, i know, hand on heart know, that things only run smoothly downstairs when i 'set fair' every night, just a quick tidy up of organised rooms, to neaten them up. It makes a huge difference. I just do not have the energy or ability to do that atm.0 -
I think we (me) are now a lot better with day to day stuff, even fixing as we go along. But the review and remove aspect surprised me. In my head, even the first aid cupboard is a 'big' job.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. This thread has inspired me to relook at my house with new eyes and although I am not a hoarder there were several areas that needed sorting and I am in the process of doing so. Thank you all for giving me the kick I needed as its so easy to become complacent.

Bedside tables never need to be edited as they are never untidy as I chuck as I go. Every day if necessary. Bedside lamps and alarm clocks are the only things on show.
Wardrobe contents are usually sorted at the ironing stage as I don't iron c**p. But if any escape I chuck after a day wearing something I hate myself in. Twice a year a sort out following the close of the seasons.
First aid stuff I give to OH to do as he is better than me at the 'use by dates'.
Keep up the good work I will be watching with interest. :TMortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -

Need to edit their bedside table contents. Just have a lamp on it and my book of the moment. No drawers. Therefore no need to de-clutter other than to change the book.
Derichard clothing from wardrobes or drawers. Don't do that very often but I don't have many clothes since returning from Spain last December, had a good de-clutter then. Before that, didn't do much, but I have never had more than one wardrobe and one chest of drawers of clothes.
Derichard first aid things This is one thing I do hoard. De-cluttered them about a month ago and will do so again when they no longer firt in the box.
i onow i have more i want to ask.
Hope this helps.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

If there's anything that shouldn't be there on the bedside tables it's removed each morning. DH usually has a glass of water and a book or magazine, I might have lip balm and tissues and a magazine. DH tidies his drawer himself, I have a look in mine once a week when I dust the room.
I chuck as I go with clothing, I keep a charity bag in my wardrobe so things can just be slung in there.
First aid things. We always top up at this time of year ready for winter so I check dates then and anything that 's out of date goes away. I also have a look in the spring as we take the buns for their jabs so I check everything then too.
Before I got sorted any of these things would happen in the hours before someone came to visit. Or not.
eta. I'm with LIR, we have a two minute tidy every night before bed to make sure things are straight. I like the idea of doing today's work today.0
