Sybil, a slug in your kettle? OMG, where's GQ when we need her?!

My dad found one in a milk bottle once but the company wouldn't accept responsibility. It put him off milk for a long, long time.

Had a lazy weekend as with DD, so hope to go home with renewed vigour.

:rotfl:  .........I would have to get a new kettle too. Bet GQ is gonna be jealous.......she may never have seen a poached slug.

Well have been off to interview thing this morning , went to shop to get some fruit........came out £60 down and have bought alsorts of 'stuff.......friut keep fresh things , microwave plate covers , net covers for plates (and hermans ) , freezer bags, other types of food bags, a battery operated 'bug-bat'........must say I can't wait to try that out....you swipe and press a button at the same time to electricute the fly.
Also..........a fantastic array of herbs and spices.....again.......clearly to replace ones thrown out other day, but they were all good value and stuff I use often.

Am washing kitchen curtains as they were pretty minging (prob a year since washed). I still have lots to do really , mainlly the kitchen but am avoiding it a bit I think. I can't avoid it much longer though as would be a bit mortified to have someone stay and just go into cupboards etc at the moment. I have today and friday to get things to a better state.

Blossom........I have never had a problem with chain letters or txts as find them boring......the herman was a problem for me as it was food related. I have got to say though that my mix is bubbling away like a goodun....so I must have done something good with it......so it will be a shame to ditch it.......I have a plan to give it to quite a few people I know , this way, if I like the bread I can always call on someone to get some to make it again , as making the bread uSes up the mixture........a master plan :)

    Hope everyone is fine.

Onwards and outwards :T. (Actually I have a bit of a cheek saying that today with my shopping):o
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Hello all Ive been AWOL sorry. Tried to catch up a bit but got a bit lost. I STILL havent done the ebay :( and WENT to a car boot SHOPPING at the weekend and got loads of clothes which is JUST what Im trying to get out of the bloody house.
HOWEVER I was inspired to DO a car boot this weekend with my DD so the ebay is going on this afternoon then if its not sold by Thurs it can come to the car boot with me Saturday and then if it doenst sell it can go straight to the clothing bank. WHam Bang Out of my house.
On that note Im off down the post office (via the cycle path to air the small people first) then will come back and get Baying!
Dilemma though- My Father In Law has come here to escape MIL's friend who is staying and the builders in their bathroom and is currently ensconced on my sofa watching the Olympic Opening Ceremony AGAIN. How do I declutter a 76 year old Irish man who clearly has his sitting britches on lol

    I've been Money Tipped!
I had an insight, and I wonder if it resonates with anyone else.

If I finish a sweater, finish putting things away, finish a novel etc then it won't be 'good enough'. While it is unfinished it is not yet 'not good enough'.

I don't even know what standards I have been aiming for, a lot of my sweaters have been really hard wearing, and decent to wear. I also think that it is something that has been creeping up on me. I mean, does it matter that the blanket I am knitting (which will probably turn out Queen size) is not perfect, it is just going to be over a bed and our eyes will be shut most of the time we are in it's company anyway. A scarf is a scarf, what if it isn't 'perfect'. The scarves I have knitted have all been described as 'lovely' and one friend suggested selling them.

And if I ever finish sorting a room - it won't be 'good enough'. I will get something wrong, I will not 'keep up to it'. Sigh.

On the bright side, I have almost finished the clearout - two more bin sacks out, and a lot of thought provoking half finished projects.

WANNABE...........I don't have the same feelinng as you , but I can see how that would transpire the way it does for you:( .......I think you should try to look and FEEL about it differently in that if people are saying these things you make whether a scalf or a blanket are lovely , why don't you believe them ? Someone once said to me when I had been going out with a ******* who put me down all the time , yet I had lots of other blokes waiting in the wings why did I choose to believe 1 person rather than 20?.......and this is true , I was allowing one feeling or thought to actually stop me having all the other more reolistic thoughts and beliefs I should have been having. I hope that makes sense as it's murder seeing ewhat I have written on a phone. The up-shot is...if everyone tells you these thing are lovely and ARE. "Good enough" believe them , a survey of 20 is always more rounded than a survey of 1 .:).

Maybe you should post pics of these lovely things you make and everyone here can be your survey and get rid of it for you...because so far I am going with the crowd not you;)

I have just cat-flapped a herman to a friend ( who I think doesn't really want one either bless her).........admittedly her home is huge compared to my flat......but I walked into mine and just thought....CLUTTER. After next week I am going to seriously address this , I also have my hols in sept and if at home will have a major attack.........in fact......a 'binge-de-clutter. Which reolistically what I do anyhow. About 5 years ago it was I thinnk I literally threw out all my furniture apart from my bed and wardrobes......it did need doing though.

WANNABE........I wouldn't mind a scalf........and would love a blanket ! , I used to scour CS for old handmade blankets , for me and the animals , for me which may sound weird but it's like I can feel the time and effort that went into them. I have blankets that my grandparents had made at otterburn mill from wool from their sheep......I would never part with them.

Edit...once you see that your scalves, sweater and blankets are if fact good , then you can see that any headway you make in a room is just as good.

Slugs - I found a slug in my kettle yesterday. After the kettle had been boiled. I defy anyone to keep calm in the face of poached slug. Gosh darn the moneysaving, I am getting a new kettle.

:D:eek: OMG, that is disGUSTing! In the kettle! In the milk! Oh, the very bastions of British domestic life assailed by the squidgy horrors.

Never fear, I shall pull my knicks on over my trousers and adjust my gardening apron and fly to your aid. Is it a bird? Is is a bee? No, it's SuperGQ, to the rescue.

    Infinity and beyoooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd!

I came home from a pal's just before 11 pm last night and there was a snail crawling on my front door! I glared at it and went indoors, not having my stomping gardening boots on and not wanting to sully proper shoes by crunching on it.

:p They've found where I live, they're coming to get me..........

Sybil, I'm a perfectionist, didn't realise it at first, but I don't attempt things because I think what I do won't be good enough, it will either be useless or a total disaster. I think why bother if people can do better than me. And yes, lots of unfinished projects and things. But I am going to try and change because I miss out on so much. I expect things like my knitting to be perfect instantly, but reading a book I got, it says it takes practice and I thought, of course...

comes from having a perfectionist family and looking good in others' eyes...

I look at things I do and just see the faults... :(

Hope you enjoyed your night out, GQ...
